Summer Notes
Please note: for the months of July and August the Church Office will be closed on
Fridays. The office will be open, as usual, Monday to Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to
12 noon.
2. HURRAY!! VACATION BIBLE CAMP BEGINS TOMORROW!! All young people, aged 4-
12, are invited to Gospel Lightâs SonRise National Park VBC- a five day
adventure where we learn the most important survival skill of all: that we can
always depend on Jesus and His promises of true peace, true riches, true power,
true love and true hope! Registration forms are available on the Manderley
Bulletin board. Please return completed forms to the office.
Are you planning on attending Rev. Alisonâs Induction at St. Martinâs on
Sunday September 22nd? St. Martinâs has contacted us, and they have limited
parking, and are arranging for overflow parking (with a bit of a walk to the church).
We are exploring the option of renting a school bus to take us all there and back
with no parking concerns. We need to know how many would be interested in doing
this, and it would need to be a fairly firm commitment. It could cost about $10.00
each. Please sign up on the bulletin board if youâd like to take the bus.
Summer is here, and even though our regular church school program has ended;
we will be providing a church school program during the summer
months. As with previous years, instead of splitting into three classes, we will be
offering one class for all ages and we will be using the "Seasons of the Spirit"
curriculum. If you are interested in teaching a class for a week or two, please feel
free to sign your name on the Church School sign-up sheet at the Manderley
Door entrance or speak to Angela McCullock (Church School Coordinator) during
Coffee Hour. New teachers are welcome!
Parables & Pints: The next installment of Parables & Pints will take place on
Tuesday, July 9th at 7:30 p.m. at the Tara Inn, 2365 Kingston Rd (near Midland).
Please join us as we share a pint (or soft drink) and discuss Jesusâ parable on the
Sheep and the Goats (Matthew 25:31-46). All are welcome to attend.
The next Parish Breakfast will be held on Saturday, September 7th beginning at 9
a.m. in Robinson Hall. We are honoured to welcome Grace MacPherson as the
speaker.
Ministry of Hospitality Opportunity-
In the letter to the Romans, Paul encourages us as a community to practice
hospitality. If you would like to participate in the ministry of hospitality by helping with
Coffee hour after the 10 a.m. serviceâŠ
The Coffee Hour list posted on the Manderley Bulletin Board is quite empty!
Please consider taking a turn to prepare coffee, tea, and goodies. It doesnât have to
be a big spread, a loaf or two or some cookies, or cheese and crackers, would be just
fine. If several people went together it makes it much easier - and fun. All you have
to do is bring milk and cream, and whatever food you want to provide. The sugar,
coffee and tea are here. Then take what you spent on the items you brought out of
the proceeds from the basket on the table.
Rev. Janet is available for conversations about life or faith, and to respond to
pastoral situations and pastoral emergencies. Please donât hesitate to contact her via
email at jrh@stnicholasbirchcliff.com or by calling the church office 416-691-0449 ext.
223 or in the case of an emergency at 416-648-1418.
