4. TOURISM IN
France ranks fifth in tourism after United Kingdom,
United States, China and Spain. Around 90 million tourists
visit France every year. Paris, the capital of France is
called the âCity of Lightâ because it was a place of
enlightenment in the 18th century. During this age of
enlightenment, Paris became the centre of education,
philosophy and learning. The climate here is favourable
for the tourists.
The famous places here are Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum,
Palace of Versailles and Cote d Azur.
The specialities include Croissants, Brie cheese and
Jambon (Local Hams).

6. EIFFELTOWER
It is named after the engineer
Gustave Eiffel, whose
company designed and built
the tower. de Mars in Paris,
France. Constructed from
1887 to 1889 as the entrance
to the 1889 World's Fair. It is
the global cultural icon of
France.

7. LOUVRE MUSEUM
Louvre Museum is the world's
largest art museum and a
historic monument in Paris,
France. The museum is
housed in the Louvre Palace.

8. PALACE OF VERSAILLES
It was the former French royal
residence and centre of
government, now a national
landmark. As the centre of
the French court, Versailles
was one of the grandest
theatres of European
absolutism.

9. DISNEY LAND
Fairytales take flight across 5
incredible lands filled with
classic Attractions, shows and
street parades. Rub shoulders
with swashbuckling pirates,
zoom through time and space
and look on in awe at the
unforgettable firework and
light displays over Sleeping
Beauty Castle.

The tourists also come to visit
France to see the Louvre museum
that has the preserved the
famous art and architecture like
Mona Lisa painted by Leonardo
da Vinci which is described as the
most visited, the most written
about, and the most sung piece
of art. Dicobolus of Myron is also
present in the Louvre Museum
which is a Greek sculpture that
figures a youthful ancient Greek
athlete throwing discus. The
beautiful Eiffel Tower that was
built is still preserved by the
government, which is one of the
main attractions of tourists.

14. CLIMATE OF FRANCE
The best time to visit France is in the spring
(April to June) or fall (September to
November) when there is moderate
temperature. The summer months can be hot,
crowded, and expensive. The winter months
are often grey, wet, and cold, though a great
time to visit the museums of Paris.

15. STEPS TAKEN BY THE GOVERNMENT
TO KEEP THE TOURISM BLOOMING
France is the worldâs leading destination. Tourism is a key sector of
the French economy. It accounts for nearly 8% of GDP, Euros 56.2
billion in tourism receipts and generates 2 million jobs.
The government of France has set the goal of 100 million
international tourists and Euros 50 billion in tourism receipts for
2020. For this the government has made tourism a policy. In July
2017, the Prime Minister convened 17 government members,
elected officials and tourism officials in the first interministerial
tourism council to present the governmentâs road map for tourism to
be headed by the ministry for Europe and foreign affairs.
The government also looks after the sustainable development of the
environment.
