4. SCHEMATIC CAPTURE
It is a way of representing the different components in
that hardware product and how they are interconnected
to each other.
Eschema is the EDA tool used to capture the
Schematic.
 The designer must be aware of the components used
in that product and have the datasheet for the
components to choose proper footprint in PCB Design

5. PCB Layout Capture
 Creating the blueprint of the actual PCB from the
“Netlist” file
 Layout contains the information of
Different components persent
Their physical appearance (footprint)
Component placement
Interconnection among the component of the PCB

6. Component Type
Two types of components are available
Through Hole Components
Surface Mount Technology components
Through Hole SMD Resistor

7. Foot Print
It is the pictorial representation of the
component when looked from top view.
 The terms package and footprint are same but
used interchangeably.

8. Package
Different types of package available are
 Single In- Line Package
Dual In- Line Package
Small Outline Integrated Circuit Package (SOIC)
Quad Flat Package (QFP)

9. Routes/ Traces
 Interconnection among pins of various components.
 In PCB Copper lines are used which are called PCB
TRACKS.
 1mm= 39.37 mils
 The width of the track can vary according to the
requirement

10. VIA
 In a multi layer board the interconnection among
various layers is provided through conductive drill
holes.
 These drill holes are called ‘Via’
