efficient at work
and

save time for yourself?
1st : Always prioritize the requests from

Your boss

Having more visibility, he / she knows what is important better than you
do. Plus she/he will be the one to promote you. 
2nd Prioritize the requests of your

boss’s boss

He / she knows even more!
Know the company P&L and prioritize the
business issues that are critical
Do not spend time on issues that will make minimal impact on the business.
Guide the request to the correct source and completely let go.
Also prioritize your personal
targets
Do not forget to prioritize what you want
to achieve & showcase.
Delegate & empower your team as much
as possible

The cost of any project also includes the time you spend on it. The
higher your salary, the bigger your cost impact on each project.
Always try to minimize this cost by delegating and empowering
more than you think you can. Its for the good of the business.
Push your team to
their limits

Give them harder tasks; enough to energize
but not to make them feel uncomfortable
Empower and
encourage your team
to take initiatives
and act on their own
You will feel uneasy at times but trust
yourself to solve any problem that might
arise
Always encourage your
team members to act as
if they are already in
their next roles.
Team members should constantly push
each other towards their next roles
Never escalate if can avoid it!
Efficient people don’t create grunt work for others. Take initiative when you can
Eliminate ALL non value
added & repetitive
work by automating it

Seek technological support for all non
value added work. Otherwise
outsource.
For each team member, ask for a
dedicated agency person
Try to match experience levels for each duo and expect them to learn & grow
together. For increased efficiency act as if they are members of your own team.
Keep them both accountable.
Know your
stakeholders well

Know their way of working, their working style, character, sensitivities and act accordingly.
Not all of them are perfectionists and not all of them care for the symetries
Only accept
perfect briefs.
Never accept an average brief.
Seriously !
Question the picture of success for each
request beforehand

Always allign on the expected output quality when receiving the brief. There
will be times when perfection is demanded but more than general,
stakeholders will be ok with a single sentence delivery.
Its perfectly fine to not be
perfect all the time

If something is working at 80%, move on to new
things. Dont dwell on the 20%, it will correct itself
on the way

TED has changed what we knew about presentations. If people
repeatedly give 20 mins presentations and still manage to be very
inspirational, we should too.
Don’t answer a question with
another question

Again efficient people are
known to finalize issues.
Don’t reply an email if you are not adding
meaningful value
Last year TED curator Chris started a movement to decrease inbox sizes and
proposed that people start using NNTR (No need to reply) when they dont need an
answer. We could all learn to make better use of this and not reply to any email
unless it is certainly necessary.

  • 13. Know your stakeholders well Know their way of working, their working style, character, sensitivities and act accordingly. Not all of them are perfectionists and not all of them care for the symetries
  • 14. Only accept perfect briefs. Never accept an average brief. Seriously !
  • 15. Question the picture of success for each request beforehand Always allign on the expected output quality when receiving the brief. There will be times when perfection is demanded but more than general, stakeholders will be ok with a single sentence delivery.
  • 16. Its perfectly fine to not be perfect all the time If something is working at 80%, move on to new things. Dont dwell on the 20%, it will correct itself on the way THE 80 20 RULE

Never prepare & accept a powerpoint presentation longer than 40 pages 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 36 37 38 39 40 TED has changed what we knew about presentations. If people repeatedly give 20 mins presentations and still manage to be very inspirational, we should too.
  • 18. Don’t answer a question with another question Again efficient people are known to finalize issues.
  • 19. Don’t reply an email if you are not adding meaningful value Last year TED curator Chris started a movement to decrease inbox sizes and proposed that people start using NNTR (No need to reply) when they dont need an answer. We could all learn to make better use of this and not reply to any email unless it is certainly necessary.
