Losers limp
1.
2. Loser's Limp
If you watch sports – you will see it
A football player is running free to the end
zone to score a touchdown.
One on the other team is chasing after him
About 15 yards from the end zone it is
hopeless, so the chaser pulls up and begins to
limp off the field like he pulled a major muscle
and can't run.
This is called “Loser's Limp”
3. Could you; Would you?
Say on Judgment Day:
My wife made me do it.
It was because of my repressive childhood.
My dad beat me as a child.
I was born the wrong – color, genes, culture,
country
Blame – church, school, society, government
4. “It's Not My Fault”
Pete Hamell wrote in Reader's Digest about,
what he called, the “victimism” of America.
The idea is that wrong behavior is not one's
own responsibility, but is rather the fault of
someone else.
If one has problems, there must be someone
else who is to blame.
5. “It's Not My Fault”
Hamell says this “implies that nobody is
personlly responsible for the living of life. The
defeats, disappointments and failures once
thought to be a part of each human being's
portion on this earth are now always the fault
of somebody else.”
Drop out of school, can't find a job, fired from
their job, can't pay their bills, steal cars, on
drugs, divorced (4 times) – all are somebody
else's fault.
6. “It's Not My Fault”
Holes in the wall of the apartment – Why
doesn't the landlord fix this?
Shifting blame is not new.
Genesis 3:12-13 12 Then the man said, "The
woman whom You gave to be with me, she
gave me of the tree, and I ate." 13 And the
Lord God said to the woman, "What is this you
have done?" The woman said, "The serpent
deceived me, and I ate."
7. “It's Not My Fault”
THE REAL PROBLEM:
MANY START TO
BELIEVE THEIR OWN
EXCUSES.
8. They lose in their society
Rapist can't stop – has too much libido
Man had his stomach stapled to lose weight – went
to nurse's station and ate food from their refrigerator
– then sued the hospital because a refrigerator was
too close to his room
Smokers sue tobacco companies
Sue McDonald's for hot coffee
School shootings – blame society, social workers,
parents, teachers – everyone but the shooter
9. They lose in their personal lives
Poem by Anna Russell
I went to my psychiatrist to be
psychoanalyzed
To find out why I killed the cat and
blackened my husband's eyes.
He laid me on a downy couch to see what
he could find,
And here is what he dreged up from my
subconscious mind;
10. They lose in their personal lives
When I was one, my mommy hid my
dolly in a trunk,
And so it follows naturally that I am
always drunk.
When I was two, I saw my father kiss the
maid one day,
And that is why I suffer now from
kleptomaina.
11. They lose in their personal lives
At three, I had the feeling of ambivalence
toward my brothers,
And so it follows naturally I poison all my
lovers.
But I am happy; now I've learned the
lesson this has taught;
That everything I do that's wrong is
someone else's fault.
12. They lose in their personal lives
Alcoholics, Pedophiles, Homosexuals
Thieves, Murderers, Drug Addicts
Fornication, Adultery, Divorce
Many think that they can't help the
weakness and sin in their lives.
13. They lose in their personal lives
1 Corinthians 6:9-11 9 Do you not know that
the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of
God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators,
nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals,
nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous,
nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners
will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such
were some of you. But you were washed, but
you were sanctified, but you were justified in
the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of
our God.
14. They lose in their personal lives
The first step in change is accepting
responsibility for our actions
The first step in AA (and similar programs) –
Admit that you have a problem.
Shifting blame makes us losers in our society
It also makes us losers in our personal lives.
15. We also lose with God
Salvation demands repentance
Repentance requires an admission that I
need to make changes in my life, behavior
and actions
On Judgment Day – We can not blame –
parents, spouse, preacher, society, school,
social workers, neighborhood,
government
16. Way of Escape
1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has
overtaken you except such as is common
to man; but God is faithful, who will not
allow you to be tempted beyond what you
are able, but with the temptation will also
make the way of escape, that you may be
able to bear it.
17. Way of Escape
2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all
appear before the judgment seat of Christ,
that each one may receive the things done
in the body, according to what he has
done, whether good or bad.
Revelation 2:10 Be faithful until death,
and I will give you the crown of life.
18. Do you have loser's limp?
Are you a blame shifter?
An excuse maker?
What are your reasons for not doing what
you know you should be doing?
19. Do you have loser's limp?
When are you going to stop the excuses?
Will you accept responsibility for your
actions?
THINGS CAN NEVER GET BETTER
UNTIL YOU DO!
