MINISTERUL SANATATII

ROMANIA
To His Excellency the Minister of Health, Romania
Esteemed Mr. Nicolaescu,
We represent the RODA association from Croatia which covers several topics regarding
parenthood and future parenthood, so we represent infertility patients in Croatia. We are
writing to you regarding the National In Vitro Fertilization and Embryo Transfer Subprogram
in Romania. Two years ago, we were very pleased to find out from our colleagues in Romania
(SOS Infertilitatea Association) that this program was implemented and one fertilization
procedure for infertile couples was financed in your country.
Right now, we are aware of the fact that this program was stopped and that is why we are
very concerned for the fate of infertile couples in Romania. Please do not stop and continue to
finance the program that is so necessary for the infertile persons in today’s Europe, when
gradually more and more persons are facing this medical condition. The program should
continue in Romania too!
We would like to emphasize that in Croatia medically assisted reproduction
procedures are financed as follows:
- 4 inseminations (procedure as well as necessary medication)
- 4 IVF/ICSI stimulated procedures (including both procedure and necessary
medication) plus additional 2 not stimulated IVF/ICSI procedures including
procedure and if necessary some medication.
This means also that donated IVF/ICSI procedures with donor oocytes or semen or
insemination with donor semen is covered 100%.
Hoping that the Romanians suffering of infertility will have access to adequate treatment, as
it is the case in other European Union countries we thank you!
Sincerely Yours,
Klaudija Kordic
