charges in the year 2000 issued a directive „On
the taking up, pursuit and prudential
supervision of the business of electronic
money institutions“ thus creating electronic
money institution (EMI) concept.

In 2012 electronic money and electronic money institutions law has been
issued, according to which:
Electronic money institution – body which received the license of electronic
money institutions or electronic money institutions with limited operating
license, which grants the right to issue electronic money in the Republic of
Lithuania and other Member States.
Electronic money – monetary value issued by the electronic money issuer with
the following features:
1. it is stored in electronic, including magnetic media;
2. intended for payment transactions;

Separation of funds:
• Customer funds are separate from other natural or legal persons funds;

Funds insurance:
• Clients funds are insured with a insurance contract;

there is no risk of the funds to be insured from;
• Customer data is stored and backed up on different servers, and even in
case of failure or fire data is protected;
