 Rick Riordan attended Alamo Heights High School in San
Antonio. He started out as an editor for the school
newspaper. Rick first began college at North Texas State
but then transferred to the University of Texas. He
graduated with a double major in English and also history.
He became certified to teach English and history from San
Antonio. When Rick was in college, he worked for three
long years as the music director at a summer camp called
Camp Capers. This is where he got the idea for the Percy
Jackson series. After that, Ricks wife and himself moved to
San Francisco, California. Then they had their two
children, Haley and Patrick, and the Riordans moved back
home to San Antonio once again.
Summary of the book
 Percy woke up with a fright as he had been dreaming of something horrible. His mother came up and
excitedly announced to him that it was his first year at school without being kicked out or expelled.
Why was she so happy about this? Because every year Percy gets tracked down by monsters that try to
kill him. This might not sound normal to you but it is to Percy. He is a demigod and monsters want to
kill the demigods for they are the children of the gods. Percy lugged his back pack to school and met
his friend, Tyson, who he would later find out is a Cyclops. He went into the gym to play dodge ball
when five kids grew ten feet tall and started throwing flaming balls whizzing two hundred miles per
hour. Percy slaughtered them easily with the help of Tyson and saw Annabeth, his friend from camp.
They escape to camp half blood with Tyson and they hear that the head director of camp half blood,
Chiron, has been kicked out of camp because the gods are blaming him for poisoning the tree that
protects the camp boundaries. Clarisse is sent out on a quest to receive the golden fleece which can
heal the tree. Percy and Annabeth search out without permission to go. Percy is having dreams of
Grover asking him to save him and telling him that the golden fleece is on the island he is being held
hostage on and its past the sea of monsters. They search out to find Grover and bump into Clarisse on
the way. She accepts and they run into the Bermuda Triangle which is the sea of monsters. Clarisse
explains there are two ways to go through. One option is sail past the monster that picks people off
the ship or go across a whirlpool of fast moving water. They choose the whirlpool but as they get
closer, the monster that picks up people of the ship attacks them. Could this be the end of Percy?
Read Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters to find out.

Lean on me Seal
Sometimes in our lives
We all have pain
We all have sorrow

But if we are wise
We know that there's
Always tomorrow

Lean on me, when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on

For it won't be long
Till I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on
rating
 4 stars out of 5 because it can be more explained but it
leaves me begging for more because it is always so
mysterious and has so much action. If you like action I
               recommend this to you.
What this reminds me of
 This book reminds me a little bit of the red pyramid
because it is by the same author and instead of romans
they are Greeks so they believe in different things and
they encounter each other sometimes. They do hate
each other though. I have never had an experience like
this which is why it is more fun to read because I can
picture me myself in this situation instead of relating
 to my memories.
