and this could be you!
8. Here at LifeWorks we are always looking to make new connections within the
community. And what better way to do it than working hand in hand with the
National Citizen’s Service!
For those of you who don’t know, the National Citizens Service (NCS) are a
group of 16/17 year old school leavers who take part in a series of tem building
and community tasks over the summer. It helps them boost their confidence for
the world of work and add a list of new skills to their CV.
On Saturday 16th
and Sunday 17th
July we held a drama workshop at our local
church. On Saturday Louise and Tammy from the barn came along with Sam
from the groups at the mill with his mum, Tracy. We spent time getting to know
the young people and even played some drama games. On the Sunday, we
were also joined by Michael, Kevin and Ann-Marie from John Gaffney and
Ashton from the groups. We played more games with the group and then they
performed some short plays for us based on the stories we had told them the
day before. Sam and Louise were over the moon when they saw that the
characters in the plays were representing them and telling their real life stories!
Overall the customers had a fantastic time and were sad to see the back of the
NCS group but we doubt it will be the last time!

10. It was all happiness and laughter round at John Gaffney Home on Thursday 2st
July as they Hosted a wonderful open day! They had music, games, activities
and a lovely buffet from FoodWorks what more could you ask for?
11. You can forget A, B and C there’s no such thing as set groups at LifeWorks
anymore! LifeWorks have changed the way the Groups are run. We now get 3
choices for activity sessions each day.
On a Wednesday the groups are different there are new people how didn’t come
out with us before because they are no set groups to be in. I think it is really
good that the groups have changed this way because we are doing different
activities then what we normally do and we to choose.

12. Lee took a trip with his group over to Knottingley on
the train. Lee is a fan of northern rail trains and was
very excited about his
trip on the train.
Sam brought in his Great
Britain flag in the and a
2012 Olympics T-shirt in
spirit of the up coming
Olympic games. He lifted the morale of the whole
mill with his “captain England” chant and dancing.
Louise took full advantage of the sunny
weather when we took a trip to Myrtle park in
Bingley recently, laid out in the grass after a
picnic enjoying her writing and soap
magazines.
The Groups took a trip out to
Bradford City centre where
they had a festival in City Park,
they enjoyed the ambulance
stall the most as they got to
learn all about the Yorkshire
ambulance service and even meet some of the team.
