New Year, new series. As we start 2019 we are looking at a series on hearing and applying the prophetic and Brian kicks us off with a great message about Deborah.
3. How God
responds to
repentance and
faith…….
He raises up
otherwise
ordinary people
who become
leaders because
they are willing
to hear from
him and carry
responsibility
for the
fulfillment of
his purpose
“When the leaders lead
the people offered
themselves willingly.”
4. Deborah - whatever it takes, we’ve got all we
need….i.e. what God has said
• Decided she wanted to hear from God
before she heard from other people
• Was serving God as a prophet
• Knew that God was willing to forgive
and restore favour to the people he
loved.
• Received the instruction and summoned
Barak from the very north of Israel.
• Told him what God had commanded.

8. What you have is enough !
Deborah:
• When no one was listening to God about……… she valued what God
felt, thought and wanted.
• Was willing to serve God by sharing her gift with the next person who
showed up at the palm tree.
• Because she heard from God about ordinary things she was able to
hear from God about extraordinary things - practice on the people
around you !
This will be year of learning to trust God’s prophetic word
9. What you have is enough !
Barak:
• When you have a word from heaven - share it
• When people come around your word, accept them.
• When others don’t show up – what you have is enough!
• When key people offer bad obedience, accept what they offer.
“Anything worth doing is worth doing badly.”
― G.K. Chesterton
10. And what you need, you
will discover as you move
forward!
JAEL – most blessed of tent dwelling women:
• We must make sure the Holy Spirit provides our resources and becomes
the clothing we wear in our community spheres of influence
• We must realize that God has “Jael’s” everywhere waiting for someone to
rise up in faith and obedience to what God has said.
I still have left in Israel seven thousand followers who have not bowed their
knees to Baal or kissed the images of him."
1 Kings 19:18
11. The year of learning to hear
and embrace God’s prophetic
instruction about the work he
has called us to do.
The year of starting with
what we have – as being
enough.
The year of discovering the
Holy Spirit partners who are
waiting for us to come to the
place of obedient faith.
