Roland DG Corporation
Prepared By-
Prateek Mishra
Current Challenges
• Globalization(Multi-local) of company with effective global supply
chain management.
• To meet volatile demand of global customers.
• Customer Centric production.
• Effective IT System which obliterate manual operations.
• Enhance customer experience.
Agenda
• Finding trustworthy suppliers.
• Products customization according to geography(Europe,
Asia-pacific, America) and demand.
• Control on all production and distribution units.
• Effective implementation of global supply strategy.
• Working with people who have deep knowledge about
market/demand of their country/state/city market and
make good decisions on properly allocating limited
product/materials to the right global regions.
• Expected outcomes at the end of implementation.
Action Plan
1. The EPIC Framework:
o The Economy, Politics, Infrastructure, Competence framework
helps in understanding supply chain readiness across regions of
globe.
o This framework measures and access the level of maturity of a
geographic region with respect to its ability to support supply
chain activities.
o This framework is necessary to implement before expanding our
supply chain to any specific geography which will enable us to
understand the potential for that particular location.
o Supply chain decisions are based on TCO(‘Total cost of
ownership’) and NPV(Net present value), so our decisions
should be based on holistic product designs appropriate for the
global environment.
Action Plan
2. Inventory Management:
o I support having “large inventories at major DCs” as it is
suitable for products with long manufacturing lead times.
o Such DCs will allow manufactures to reduce inventory levels by
taking advantage of risk pooling.
o Finding suitable places for inventories and managing them at
different locations is a big concern in supply chain.
o Optimizing inventory using techniques like, value stream
mapping, automatic inventory system(helps to keep track of
quantity and value of each stocked item), ABC analysis and
classification, replenishment automation.
o Minimize Bullwhip effect in every step of supply chain by
keeping track of safety stock.
Action Plan
3. Transportation and 3PL partners:
oBy having most effective transport method is necessary for
stable supply chain which helps in reducing costs
associated with it.
oHolding costs can be removed by using cross-docking
methods which will save a lot of money and decreases lead
time.
o3PL helps in smooth transfer of goods as this is there core
competency.
o3PL also helps companies to focus on their core
engineering.
oCross-docking is an efficient method to save of warehouse
costs without which also helps in improving lead time.
Action Plan
4. Value Added Services:
oIn today’s economy, companies can not compete only on
product price alone, we need to offer something extra to
differentiate from competitors.
oInformation Access, allowing customers access their own
data enhances their experience with the company. This is
also known as 3rd industrial revolution where both
companies and customer can know each other better
using digital technologies.
oWe need to build a relationship with customer, remember
we are all customers and suppliers to someone else.
oEnhance B2C capabilities and experience.
Action Plan
5. Global Company with Local reach:
o Understand the current demand of global market and
set productions according to that for maximum
output.
oWork with market experts of various geography to
tighten grip in every corner of the world.
o Modularize products according to eclectic market and
customer.
Benefits
• Improved supply chain which means less investment.
• More reach results in increased potential for
expansion.
• Better output in sales which means more profitability.
• Extra edge over other competitors which keeps
Roland ahead in the game.
Conclusion
• Global products with right
partner and correct business
strategy will lead to a successful
path of multi-local supply chain.
Multi-local
Supply Chain
• Better Market standing because
of flexible products according to
local demands.
Flexibility
