5. from the Latin cultura stemming
from colere, meaning "to cultivate," is
the social behavior and norms found
in human societies. Culture is considered
a central concept in anthropology,
encompassing the range of phenomena
that are transmitted through
social learning in human societies. Some
aspects of human behavior, social
practices such as culture, expressive
forms such
as art, music, dance, ritual, religion,
and technologies such as tool
usage, cooking, shelter, and clothing are
said to be cultural universals, found in all
human societies.

7. This definition is widely accepted today by
social scientist. It is the accurate ways of
doing things which is the product of human
experienced; it is the totality of what
individuals have learned about living
together.

8. Culture continues to grow and change with
the passage of time. Human experience is possible
through the use of material object like tools,
weapons, clothing, houses, ornaments and objects.
In the classroom, there are blackboards, desks,
chalks and books; these were unknown in primitive
days.

9. • All these objects are man-made and object
that are readily apparent. These are referred
to as material culture.
• all these material object are important, but
more important than these are skills, the
knowledge and the use to which we apply
these material culture for man’s benefit.

ability to acquire culture,

experience.
We learn everything about
our culture from parents
peers, media and other
socialization institution,
includes value attitudes
world view language etc.
CULTURE IS LEARNED

12. Through the use of language the older
generation can pass on the youth the
knowledge and skills acquired through
experience. The classroom is an important
venue for transmission of culture from
generation to generation. Thus culture is
learned.

All people have varied cultures.
Human groups of different societies have
different cultures; all people have their own
cultures which vary in numerous way
In their study of history, geography and
social studies that students learn that there
are many groups of people not only around
the world but even within the Philippines.
We call these groups different societies.

14. In the wider would around us we have thee
Chinese , Japanese, Russians, Spanish ,
Americans, an others.
Among them are strange customs which should
not be judged by our own attitudes.
Within our own country (society or nation), we
have the Muslims of Mindanao and Sulu, the
Negritos of Zambales and Bataan , and the
Ignores and Ifugaos of Northern Luzon. They are
all Filipinos, although all have Ways of doing
things different from the Christian Filipinos.
