In Response To Gay Bullying and Gay Teen Suicide Good Shepherd Church
Pasadena Launches Comprehensive Outreach to LGBTQ Community in Pasadena
CA.
Pasadena, CA, June 28, 2011 - In response to last year’s rash of gay teen suicides, Good Shepherd
Church Pasadena launches an aggressive comprehensive outreach to the LGBTQ Community in
Pasadena CA the San Gabriel Valley. Good Shepherd Church Pasadena and its openly gay Pastor Rev.
Rick Eisenlord have launched a 3 prong effort to provide services and programs to an underserved LGBTQ
population in Pasadena and the San Gabriel Valley. This effort includes (1) the establishment of a LGBTQ
Scholarship Fund to enable high school students to continue their education beyond high school, whether it
is a trade school, 2 or 4 year college; (2) the establishment of the first gay and lesbian Center in the San
Gabriel Valley, providing much needed services to the LGBTQ Community; and (3) observance of World
AIDS Day on Dec. 1, 2011 with a mass choir and the largest exhibition of AIDS Memorial Quilts in Southern
California.
Pastor Eisenlord commented, “It is one thing for a church to say it is ʻwelcomingʼ to the LGBTQ
Community, but it is an entirely different matter to have that same church go beyond the confines of
its sanctuary and proactively participate in LGBTQ activities. That is precisely where Good Shepherd
Church Pasadena is different from other churches: we are aggressive in our outreach to the LGBTQ
Community. We donʼt wait for someone to walk in the front door of the church to show them Godʼs
grace, love and acceptance. We are out there proactively engaging the LGBTQ Community on a
variety of important and crucial levels.”
