Press Release
Athens, 17 December 2020
C-Roads Greece organized its First Stakeholder Workshop
with great success!
The First Stakeholders Workshop of the C-Roads Greece project was held virtually on the 14th
of December 2020 within
the framework of the 6th ITS Hellas Virtual Conference with great success. More than 280 attendees, mainly from Greece
and EU member states, had the opportunity to be informed about the deployment of Cooperative Intelligent Transport
Systems (C-ITS) in Greece, the pilot activities of the project at Egnatia Odos and Attikes Diadromes and also about the
current status and future prospects in the C-ITS domain.
Within the framework of the workshop, a round table discussion titled “Expanding the C-ITS capabilities of Europe’s
road network” was hosted, aiming to share experiences and views between high-level C-Roads platform representatives
and C-Roads Greece partners with the workshop attendees. A video recording of the workshop is freely available online
(7:00.26 - 8:51:50).
The Second Stakeholders Workshop of the C-Roads Greece project is planned to be held during December 2021, where
further developments from the Greek pilot are expected to be announced.
About the Project
The C-Roads Platform, co-financed by the Connecting Europe Facility of the European Union, is a joint initiative of
European Member States and road operators for testing and implementing Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems
(C-ITS) services in light of cross-border harmonisation and interoperability across Europe. The goal is to achieve the
deployment of interoperable cross-border C-ITS services for road users. 18 European Member States are participating in
the C-Roads Platform with national pilots, in order to test and validate locally C-ITS services based on the common
communication profiles agreed at the C-Roads Platform level. Greece, under the coordination of the Ministry of
Infrastructure and Transport, participates in the C-Roads Platform with the C-Roads Greece project. The two pilot sites of
the C-Roads Greece project are along Egnatia Odos Tollway and Αttika Tollway. More information about the C-Roads
Platform can be found at: https://www.c-roads.eu/
