5. We’re game changers in retail development!
Jeroen Scholten
Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Intro about yourself + intro about RetailStore development and then,
What's changed since you started working in store development?
It's not cookie cutter anymore. Ten years ago, it was a simpler proposition of opening as many stores in as many countries as you could. Now, you've got to know the customer in their market
and understand how to entertain them. You've got to do your homework and carefully plan to make sure that you continue to be attractive.
7. Our Challenge?
What’s out challenge?
With a less number of people, big network and working for Stock Listed companies requires you to be careful with lots of compliance. But at the same time you need to be agile & flexible.
And on the other hand, you need to collaborate lots of international companies, same quality everywhere although different local businesses, provide data or retrieve data from them… Real-
time…And last but not least, if you open stores faster then you help them to create cash faster….
9. Our Supply Chain Actors on the Platform
and the actors in our supply chain platform who uses our system daily bases or

Chain Solution
IT Solution of Yellowstar helped us to have relevant information by
• providing End-to-End visibility
• helping us to gain business agility
• giving us an easier connectivity with other parties with systems like SAP, Riege,
Cargowise and many more.
• providing easier KPI reporting possibilities for supply chain managers, clients and
also for partners
• And being a flexible solution so that we can answer almost all the customer wishes.
As a result, we have a social supply chain which helps us to steer the project &
budget control from beginning to the end.
12. Solution = Star Flow (Social Supply Chain)
Here is a start up screen how my colleagues are starting their day.
By this way we can have open, transparent visibility & easier anticipation for the supply chain challenges.
13. Future Trends in Retail Market
What’s the trend / future
- The biggest challenge for the future is to compete with e-commerce / web shops. Instead of
competing, we need to combine it.
- e-commerce in combination with real shops that means less shops but more unique SKUs.
- the affect of it is;
◦ Scale does not matter anymore, flexibility does
◦ Personalised Supply Chain
◦ Global Purchasing & Local Sales & Local Production with the same quality
◦ More collaboration
14. 5 key points of this success!
Agile Development
User acceptance
Usage of IoT
Measuring the Innovation
Collaboration is the new era
IT for Social Supply Chain
Here are the 5 key points;
1- Agile Development (start small with scalable model), in the opening session there was also a nice statement “Small is new BIG!” It’ll make you anti-fragile!
2- User acceptance is the most critical point = Stop thinking about how a order entry screen should look like, start having systems that collects the order data for
you and how the screen should look like. Capture user behaviours and give them suggestions.
3- Usage of IoT = Make use of all kinds of sensor data and combine it with your context then show the relevant information to the user. For example, what if the
system sees that you’re always looking your daily results report every evening when you’re at home and asks you pro-actively, “Do you want me to open your daily
result screen?”
4- Measure the innovation = need to make sure that you keep innovating but also measure the innovation. Is it really the innovation or an expensive hobby? For
instance, measure the percentage of order entry methods per month. It should be more electronic than manual entry or order data correction percentage should go
down through time.
5- Collaboration, as we mentioned earlier, the future of supply chain is getting more complex. shorter delivery times, way more less stock, smaller size but higher
quantity international shipments and all for personalised supply chain…. the only way to solve this is to collaborate and use platforms that helps you to collaborate
with your partners, clients…. in other words, have a “Social Supply Chain” platform.
