The New Age Movement • Covers a wide range of belief systems including Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam Daoism, Wiccan practices, Celtic beliefs, Native American Practices ect. • Activities include ceremonies, tarot cards, metaphysical healing, reading of palms, connecting to the Spirit World ect. • The belief in taking control of your own life, working towards a perfect state of perfection . • Increased personal awareness and development of one’s own divinity is the springboard to global transformation Tuesday, April 11, 17

Adaption to Mainstream Culture • Accepting of newcomers. • Rejection of any religion involving good vs evil, God, Heaven or Hell. • The New Age Movement experiences strong criticism not only from religious organizations, but also from science and academic based critics and major cultural groups such as indigenous tribes such as the Lakota, Blackfoot, Crow, Cheyenne ect. for misappropriation. Do’s and Don’ts • Be open and inquisitive. • Be accepting and respectful. • Ask questions if you do not understand concept and basic belief systems. • Don’t be critical of theories and beliefs. • If you do choose to become involved, thoroughly explore each belief system to choose what is right for you.
