Gender Equality in Public Life
• The 2015 OECD Recommendation of the
Council on Gender Equality in Public Life
provides a clear and concrete path for making
governments, public administrations, legislatures,
and judiciaries more cognisant of and responsive to
the perspectives, interests and needs of both women
and men.
• The Recommendation contains a provision relating
to Gender Budgeting.

• “A gender-based assessment of budgets, incorporating i) a
gender perspective at all levels of the budget
process … and ii) re-structuring revenues and
expenditures to promote gender equality”
- Council of Europe
• “Integrating a i) clear gender perspective within the
overall context of the budget process, through the use
of special processes and analytical tools, with a view to ii)
promoting gender-responsive policies”
