This document discusses research funding and strategy at the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB). The MSB aims to develop individual and societal capacity to prevent, deal with, and learn from emergencies through collaborative research. The MSB research strategy has four elements: individual and public safety, societal continuity and resilience, strengthened emergency preparedness and civil defense, and information security. The MSB research plan for 2015 includes topics like climate change, crisis communication, and cyberphysical systems. Example future calls for proposals include enhanced rescue services capabilities, protection of vital societal functions, and increasing societal resilience and sustainability.
