2. General Model of a computer
Hardware refers to the physical components of a computer that you can
see and touch, such as keyboard, mouse, printer and monitor.
A basic computer has five types of hardware- input, processing, output,
storage and communication components.
4. Multi-purpose devices
A multi-purpose computer is designed to perform many different tasks.
A personal computer (PC) is a small computer that perform all its own
input, processing, output and storage, and is designed to be used by an
individual user.
5. Dedicated devices
A dedicated device is built or programmed to only a specific procedure.
These devices and appliances have microprocessor chips found in them.
6. Hardware and Software
Hardware – It refers to the physical components of the computer
which you can see and touch.
Examples include: keyboard, mouse, printer and monitor.
Software- It is a set of instructions that tells the computer and its
devices what to do.
Examples include: Microsoft office and windows media player.
Hardware cannot function without software.
10. Processing
It is also known as the central processing unit (CPU), the brain of the
computer.
It is responsible for performing operations on the input to produce output
in a systematic manner.
11. Output devices
They convey information to they user and must be presented in the
required format of the user.
