mitigation among supply chain (SC)actors.

Harmonizing and improving agrifood policies by engaging relevant partners and EUpolicy makers.

Outcome 2: Enabling circular economy development by reducing, recovering and reusing food waste for
biomaterials and bioenergy

Outcome 3: Catalyzing food innovations for better nutrition and stronger links between production and

€2m co-funding generated, €5m funding leveraged and €2m non-EIT financing raised.

Outcome 1: Enhance the forestry capacity to absorb CO2 and store it in biomass and soil
Develop sustainable forest management practices to face climate change with new business models and value
chains capturing more value from wood
Develop a more consistent data set and decision making tool for a better management of the resource
availability now and in the future.
Develop eco-system services to harvest the value of the European forests
Outcome 2: Replace in a comprehensive way fossil based by bios-based products to increase the
carbon storage duration and avoid emission due to fossil based value chains
Setup a substitution framework including circular economy principles to unlock decision making on the bio-
based value chains development
Develop new European policy framework to increase the incentives to support wood in construction and smart
bio-economy
Support a behaviour change through a better understanding by consumers of the forests and wood system

Outcome 1: Avoid negative externalities of our consumption on deforestation
Development of a Landscape Finance Lab platform to identify landscapes under threat and unlock investment for
their conservation or restoration
Implementation of new traceability mechanisms like the blockchain one to have a clear impact assessment and
develop trustful relationship with investors
Improve local governance issues by systemising multi-stakeholders engagement approaches
Improve data collection and analysis to build a common framework for sustainable landscape management
and support smart decision making
Outcome 2: Re-build landscape identity around cities to foster land based economic activities
Development of a common eco-system services and Natural CapitalAccounting (NCA) framework to channel
financial flows
Development of small scale food and biomass production models to re-localise production and change urban
consumer behaviour
Work with cities to restore their natural surrounding landscape identity to create ownership, attract green activities
and eco-tourism.

Development of at least 1 integrated and citizen-driven approach for sustainable urban food system. Harmonizing and improving agrifood policies by engaging relevant partners and EUpolicy makers. 50 demand side actors (corporates, industry alliances, farmer coops,etc.)engagedvia projects. Addressingconsumer behavior and dietary changes by relevant projects. Outcome 2: Enabling circular economy development by reducing, recovering and reusing food waste for biomaterials and bioenergy Reduction of preventable food waste via projects related to raising consumer awareness, stock management andpolicy change. Development of projects related to valorisation of industrial food wastefor biomaterials and bioenergy. Forestry Flagship Outputs (2020) – linked to outcomes 15 Outcome 1: Enhance the forestry capacity to absorb CO2 and store it in biomass and soil Develop sustainable forest management practices to face climate change with new business models and value chains capturing more value from wood Develop a more consistent data set and decision making tool for a better management of the resource availability now and in the future. Develop eco-system services to harvest the value of the European forests Outcome 2: Replace in a comprehensive way fossil based by bios-based products to increase the carbon storage duration and avoid emission due to fossil based value chains Setup a substitution framework including circular economy principles to unlock decision making on the bio- based value chains development Develop new European policy framework to increase the incentives to support wood in construction and smart bio-economy Support a behaviour change through a better understanding by consumers of the forests and wood system A Design Support Group of Climate-KIC partners is currently setting up a workplan for the next 2 years, these are tentative outcomes and their details may be changed.
