CIRCULAR MOTION
• Circular Motion is a movement of an
object along the circumference of a
circle or rotation along a circular
path.
TYPES OF CIRCULAR
MOTION
• Uniform Circular Motion
• Non-Uniform Circular Motion
UNIFORM CIRCULAR
MOTION
• The motion of a body moving with
constant speed along a circular path
is called Uniform Circular Motion.
• Here, the speed is constant but the
velocity changes.
• It is accelerated motion.
• To calculate time period covered in uniform
circular motion is
T=2*pie*r/v
• If a particle is moving in a circle, it must
have some acceleration acting towards the
center which is making it move around the
center. Since this acceleration is
perpendicular to the velocity of particle at
every instant , it is only changing the
direction of velocity and not magnitude and
that’s why the motion is uniform circular
motion. We call this acceleration
Centripetal Acceleration, and the force
acting towards the center is called
Centripetal Force.
• It’s direction is toward center and
Magnitude is
Mass*velocity sq/radius
• If the centripetal force becomes 0 the
the object will go tangentially
outwards.

CENTRIFUGAL FORCE
• Centrifugal force is
. Think of a ball on
the end of a string that is being twirled around,
or the outward motion you feel when turning a
curve in a car. In an inertial frame, there is no
outward acceleration since the system is not
rotating.
FORMULA=
F=mW^2r

CENTRIFUGAL FORCE
NON-UNIFORM CIRCULAR
MOTION
• Non-uniform circular motion
denotes a change in the speed of the
particle moving along the circular
path. Note especially the change in
the velocity vector sizes, denoting
change in the magnitude of velocity.
• In Non-Uniform circular motion, the
size of the velocity vector(speed)
changes, denoting change in the
magnitude of velocity.
• The change in speed has implications
for radial (centripetal) acceleration.
There are two possibilities:-
1. The radius of the circle is constant.
2. The radial force is constant.
• In either case, the angular velocity in
non-uniform circular motion is not
constant.
