1. The Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD) is a private diplomacy organisation founded on the principles of
humanity, impartiality and independence. Its mission is to help prevent, mitigate, and resolve armed conflict through
dialogue and mediation. HD is currently looking for an:
Intern for its Communication and Fundraising departments in Geneva, Switzerland
HD’s communications department manages external as well as internal communications-related activities in support of
the organisation’s operations. Responsibilities include the management of the organisation’s branding and web
presence, development of institutional print and multimedia products, media relations and events management. HD’s
donor relations and fundraising department ensures that HD has the funding it needs to meet its objectives. It supports
staff raise funds for their projects, seeks out core funds and develops relations with existing and new donors.
The intern will work for a six month period in close collaboration with the Communications Manager and the
Head of Donor Relations and Fundraising, on a number of internal projects. Her/his responsibilities will include:
1. Communications:
o Supporting the redesign process of HD’s website, and the management of its content as well as of the
organisation’s social media content;
o Helping to maintain the content of HD’s SharePoint (Intranet) platform;
o Assisting with the review of the organisation’s factsheet, brochure, PowerPoint presentation and annual
report.
2. Fundraising:
o Supporting HD’s private fundraising work;
o Co-ordinating knowledge about HD’s donors and developing an intranet tool to share this across HD;
o Developing results data, help to put together reports to core donors, and provide some editorial support;
o Managing contact and network management systems.
The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:
Be an English native speaker with excellent writing skills;
Hold a university degree or be enrolled in a degree in a relevant field;
Possess knowledge of, and prior experience with, social media, websites/Intranets, and/or SharePoint;
Possess solid research, analysis and mapping experience;
Be flexible, dynamic, creative and sociable.
