In this presentation we will look at email marketing, the resources required, along with the action plans, tips and additional consideration in running your campaign.
Introduction to Email marketing Email marketing can be thought of as the internet equivalent of a direct mail campaign, or sending a newsletter or promotional brochure, with one exception that permission is needed to send the emails. Email marketing can be considered to include any email a customer is sent regarding business, but the more successful campaigns tend to be those in newsletter form, which have short articles with links to a website or webpage. Email marketing can also be done by inserting an ad in someone else’s email.
Cost and timeframe You can hire someone to manage the whole account and do everything from A to Z, but this can become quite an expensive undertaking. An autoresponder is needed to manage the large amounts of emails, and to deal with the replies that undoubtedly will come. A good autoresponder can be purchased for around $30. You will spend most of the time setting things up. Once the lists are compiled and the autoresponder is set, the only thing left is to write the emails, and let the bulk emailer send them out.
Successful execution Two things are absolutely essential for this type of campaign are a contact list, and an autoresponder program. Always write emails which are short, punchy, and to the point. Remember your website should have a way for people to enter their information and sign up for the list. This will help in expanding your contact list.
Tips and tactics A good way to keep people signing up for your mailing list, is to have an ongoing contest on your site and offering rewards. For the campaign to be truly effective and to last over the long term, your business must deliver on the promises that you make. This will be the best way to assure that customers return and pay attention to your future mailings.
Alternatives to consider The most powerful advertising methods are those that combine several methods. Email marketing is one way to keep current customers abreast of new deals, but having another method to drive traffic to your site, such as a keywords campaign, will assure that the business continues to grow.
