2. Brainstorming
• Idea generation for decision making
• Osborn – Using the brain to storm the
problem
• Problem is given to group clearly
• Each members are asked to give ideas.
Factors inhibiting the idea generation is
pushed back
• Criticism or comment are strictly
prohibited.

3. Nominal Group
Technique • Problem is Identified
• Participants privately write ideas about solution and his best ideas are presented
• Each idea is discussed, clarified and evaluated
• Participants privately rank ideas in order of their preference
• The highest ranking idea is taken as group decision

4.  Delphi – Shrine, that information about the future
 Member do not have face to face interaction
 Decision arrived by filling up questionnaires
 A small group designs a questionnaires which is completed by a large
respondent group
 The results are then tabulated and used in developing a revised
questionnaire which is completed by the larger group.
 This is repeated until the issues are narrowed or consensus is reached.
 This is useful to problem which is benefit from subjective judgement.

 Begins after a task group has developed, clarified and
evaluated a list of ideas.
 Cluster and categories of ideas and produce a single
classification scheme by group
 Consolidate the different schemes developed by subgroup into
are representative scheme as “straw map”
 Best suited for problems that are multi dimensional.
