 The failure to recognize the existence of anxiety is
referred to as denial.
 For example;-
An alcoholic fails to acknowledge that he is an
addicted person.

 To impose your emotional impulses which is actually
enforced on you by a more powerful, over the
subordinates or the less powerful objects.
 For example;-
Angered by the father, John irritates his younger
brother.

11. Rationalization
 Justifying one’s actions with socially acceptable
explanations irrespective of one’s true motives.
 After being rejected from a transcendental university
a student explains that he would be more happier in a
smaller institute.

 A defense mechanism by which your own traits and
emotions are attributed to someone else
 For example;-
The policeman had desires to capture a person with
no illegal act, he said that he had teased on the road.

 Override negative with habit.
 For Example;-
A woman who gets a tax refund by cheating on her
taxes makes a larger than the usual donation.

14. Regression
 A defense mechanism in which you flee from reality by
assuming a more infantile state
 For example;-
 After a bitter behavior of parents, Sohail pretends to
be like a baby boy to fetch their love back instantly.

15. Repression
 The complete exclusion from consciousness of anxiety.
 For example;-
Three years after being hospitalized for back surgery,
the person can remember only vague details about the
event
