Internet of Things ? • IoT or Internet of things is an evolution of mobile, home and embedded applications that are being connected to the internet integrating greater computing abilities and using data analytics to extract meaningful information. • Connected devices now-a-days are everywhere in the world. The concept of IoT ensures data transfer “smartly”. Like the “smart” watches and many other smart devices which can do almost anything if they are connected to the internet. • Things are all around us cars, mobile phones, laptops, tablets, parking areas all are things. When these things are connected to the internet and share the data among them, a system of devices is formed. This is called Internet of things. Now this can be useful for e.g. if our cars and the parking meters are synced and sharing data over anything like could or else then the meter control can lead us to the empty parking space automatically through directing our car through its GPS.
  3. 3. Trends:- •This concept is currently popular in the devices called “smart watches or wearable”. These are watch like devices which can do almost anything a computer is meant to do. They sync with our calendar, browsing history, train and flight reminders. •The image shows how a city wide traffic system can be created if all the traffic cameras are synced across using control towers. Real time accident reports could advice the people to take different routes. The problem of congestion of traffic can also be avoided.
  4. 4. • The most popular and growing trend of IoT is online payment using many services namely PayPal, VeriSign etc. which provides an authenticated and secure terminal over the internet to transfer your accounting information to complete your transaction • The ATM’s going on that provide almost everywhere access to our bank account and services like withdrawal, deposit, checking our balance and much more transactions. These also provide real time messaging feature to the user’s number which is linked to the account number. That is whenever a transaction is done from an account through an ATM, the information is sent to the dedicated sever, changes are made to the database, then a request to a server is sent where it is dedicated to sending a text message notification to the registered number for that account. This here is perfect example of things working together, connecting using internet. It’s responsible for very much one reason i.e. Security. As the account holder gets real time updates about his/her account, even if his/her card is stolen; he/she can track the transaction and it becomes more safer than ever.
