As neither Mel nor I knew what sort of film we wanted to produce or which would be best for us we decided it
would be good to allow our audience to decided. This way will create something successful and wanted by the
public. We questioned what genre of film was most popular with our audience, this would decide where our
further independent research will stem from. The results were pretty obvious that Action/Adventure is the
favoured genre.
From here Mel and I are going to look into our own market research find out what types of action films there are
which we could create and where there is a gap in the market.
To establish timing of our film trailer we looked into how long some pre existing film trailers are and what the
recommendation is. Most film trailers lasted an average of 2 minuets so we turned to our target audience to decide
what was most appropriate and they seemed to agree.
I felt that anything less than a minuet wouldn’t give us long enough to present the style of film trailer I wanted to
create, the impact within the action would need a build up to work successful . Also anything longer than 2 minuets
could be quite excessive revealing more about the plot than intending leaving no suspense for the audience.
Some people show that 1-30 minuets was appropriate however for the task Mel and I are about to undertake for the
first time it seems appropriate to allow ourselves a longer time period to fill as we don’t know how our work will come
together and what problems we might undertake. Luckily for us the results were positive that a trailer 1.30-2 minuets
long is an appropriate length to fit all of the necessary information and vital shots to start putting the plot into place
enticing the audience to view more.
