A ships facilities and space can be generally divided into three
types:
Stateroom Space
Private (crew) Space
Public Space
3. Stateroom Space
If hotels have guestrooms, a cruise ship has a stateroom or a
cabin.
There are three types of ship staterooms:
• Outside staterooms
• Inside Staterooms
• Suites
4. Stateroom Space
• Outside staterooms - are meant for guest who may
have a preference for an Ocean View.
• Inside staterooms - cheaper than outside staterooms
since they do not have windows.
• Suites - the most expensive rooms on a ship.
5. Private Space
Are reserved for the ship's personnel. These include
the crew's cabin, cafeteria, gym, and recreational
facilities.
7. Public Space
• Receptional Area - similar to a hotel lobby, the
reception area in cruise ships has several offices. The
purser's and Shore excursion office or tour desk.
• Dining Room - This is where the guests' meal are
served.
• Showroom - This serves as the ship's venue for
entertainment and business functions.
8. Public Space
• Pool Area - One of the many recreation centers in cruise
ships, this area also has food and beverage outlets and
relaxation areas for the passengers.
• Gym, Spa, and Sports Facilities - Just like in land - base
hotels nd resorts, Cruise ship provide complete gym
service, the spa offers holistics service, and other sports
amenities.
• Children's Area - This area offers babysitting service to a
wide range of age groups.
