10. 3. DETERMINATION
• . The concentration of soluble of ascorbic acid can be determined in
many ways, the most common way involves titration with an
oxidation agent.
4. IODINE
• Another method involving using iodine and starch indicator , where
in iodine reacts with ascorbic acid, and when all the ascorbic acid
has reacted , the iodine is excess, the forming a blue and black
complex with starch indicator. The indicates the end point of the
titration as an alternative ascorbic acid can be reacted with iodine in
excess, followed with sodium thiosulphate while using starch as
indicator. The concentration of soluble of ascorbic acid can be
determined in many ways;the most common way involves titration
with an oxidation agent.
11. 5.Iodine and iodate
The above method involving iodine require making up and standardizing the iodine
solution. One way around this is to generate iodine in presence of ascorbic acid by the
reaction of iodate and iodide ion in acid solution
