HOW TO CREATE POSTS THAT GET ATTENTION Make sure you DON’T TREAT FACEBOOK like putting an ad in your local newspaper Facebook is a SOCIABLE NETWORK, nobody goes there with the intention of shopping for something Whenever you post on Facebook you must REMEMBER THE 80/20 APPROACH: 80% social 20% selling
  5. 5. WHAT SHOULD I POST? Look for LOCAL NEWS EVENTS SHARE A FUNNY STORY about your business Use Facebook groups to FIND PHOTOS FROM LOCAL PHOTOGRAPHERS that you can share on your page THEY AREN’T SELLING ANYTHING. It’s just a picture of one of their bathtubs and some excellent writing

Keep it SIMPLE – L.I.K.E and S.H.A.R.E only 24 Hours Later - share it in local ‘for sale groups’. With a combined following of 100,000 people = Great Exposure 24 Hours Later – comment on the post and give an incentive for the people who have entered. For an extra name in the hat, they have to tag a friend = extra engagement Go into your post and click on the Who has ‘Liked’ section You’ll will be able to see whether they like your business page or not If they haven’t then you can invite them BONUS: If you have a mailing list, then offer an extra name into the hat for everyone that signs up to your list.   7. 7. USING FACEBOOK ADS PROPERLY Latest stats show that only 3% of your potential audience will see your post “You have to Pay To Play” If you want your business to get noticed on Facebook then you need to give them money!
  8. 8. At the bottom of every post, you’ll see a button entitled “Boost Post”. They want you to click that button and then click on “PEOPLE WHO HAVE LIKED YOUR PAGE” EASIEST LAZIEST COSTLIEST MOST INEFFECTIV E When you start up a Facebook Business Page, you invite all of their friends to like your page. This is a good indicator of people who like you, not an indicator of who will buy from you If you have ever run a competition, you will have had a lot of people like your page who were only doing so in order to enter the competition Instead of taking the easy route, you need to invest some time to set up Facebook Ads correctly in the first place to ensure that every penny you spend has been invested wisely YOU NEED TO PICK YOUR AUDIENCE!
  9. 9. BUILDING AN AUDIENCE Did you know that you can fine tune your ads so that the only people who will see your ads are the people who you want to see them? ? Facebook Ads Manager Facebook Audience Insights Use this filter system to work out your local audience If you have a hotel in Scarborough you can narrow down your targeted audience to people who live within a 30 mile radius of your hotel, who are planning on visiting the town.

BUILDING AN AUDIENCE For a hotel, this means that you are building an audience that solely consists of people who visited the booking page on your website but then left without booking To give you further help, Facebook offers you a ‘PIXEL’ that you can add to your website This is a free tool and is used to collect data from your website in order to use in your ad

FACEBOOK GROUPS Amazing free tool that many people aren’t utilising properly With Facebook groups the percentage of visibility of your posts increases dramatically It’s a great way of filtering your Facebook Fans into the people who LOVE what you do When you first join a group, you have to manually let Facebook know that you don’t want it to send you notifications every time someone posts in the group. The majority of people don’t do this so when you paste in the group not only will you come up in people’s newsfeeds, they’ll also get a notification whenever you post! FACEBOOK INSIGHT

Example - The Grainary’s VIP Facebook Group FACEBOOK GROUPS We had over 8,000 people following our business page but I wanted to filter down to the people who actually LOVE what we do, the ones that come to all of our events and stay with us frequently I wanted to create a group where we would share everything we had to say first When we announce an event we post it there first and it sells out Whenever we have a special rate we post it here first so that these people have first option 300 people joined

WHY VIDEO IS THE WAY FORWARD IN 2017 Facebook has turned its attention to Video in recent months LIVE VIDEO It gives preference to posts featuring live video feeds. why not ask your guests if would mind doing a live video testimonial? It can be fun, and more importantly they will use their own phones to find the video and to share it with friends and family

WHY VIDEO IS THE WAY FORWARD IN 2017 MY ADVICE keep all live videos to under five minutes long 1 Make sure you can be heard (buy an external microphone if needed) 2 Make sure you have a good connection3 Keep the camera steady, waving it around will distort the viewing quality 4 The use of live video for business is very new. Play around with it and try it, it is free at the end of the day! If you only get one viewer or if nobody interacts then you can either try again or move on.
