Organizational Policies
 “Policies are general statements of how
an organization want to behave and
procedures define exactly how to do a task or perform
step by step.”
 It sum up all of the actions, an organization intends
to take in order to achieve its short-term and long-
term business goals.
 Organizational policies are formulated by managers
of the organization.
 Organizational Policy arises from the company’s
mission in the business. Every action an
organization takes should seek to fill that one
purpose.
4 levels of Management:
 Corporate-level (Top):
It defines the markets and businesses in which a company will
operate. Corporate level decisions is formulated at the top level by the top
management of a diversified company.
 Business-level (Middle):
It defines the basis on which firm will compete. Business plans are formulated
by the senior managers of the unit. This emphasizes the strengthening of a
company’s competitive position of products or services.
 Functional-level (Lower):
It is the division strategy designed for each organizational function. It refers
to a strategy that emphasizes a particular functional area of an organization.
 Operating-level:
It is formulated at the operating units of an organization. A company may
develop operating strategy, as an instance, for its factory, sales territory or
small sections within a department.

Corporate level decisions is formulated at the top level by the top management of a diversified company.  Business-level (Middle): It defines the basis on which firm will compete. Business plans are formulated by the senior managers of the unit. This emphasizes the strengthening of a company’s competitive position of products or services.  Functional-level (Lower): It is the division strategy designed for each organizational function. It refers to a strategy that emphasizes a particular functional area of an organization.  Operating-level: It is formulated at the operating units of an organization. A company may develop operating strategy, as an instance, for its factory, sales territory or small sections within a department.
