1. INTEGRAL UK WINS 3 YEAR MAINTENANCE CONTRACT WITH THE
UNIVERSITY OF LIVERPOOL
New multi-million pound partnering contract aims to deliver value for money and
support the local economy.
The University of Liverpool is a member of the Russell Group of research-intensive institutions
in the UK. Established in 1881, the University now has more than 25,000 students from all over
the world.
The University is planning to invest £600 million in its facilities as part of its commitment to
providing a world-class student experience and research environment. The investment
includes a £250 million redevelopment of the University’s student
accommodation. This significant future investment will deliver new world-class facilities
together with ongoing improvement and refurbishment of the existing estate and key
infrastructure. This supports the University’s strategy to enrich the student experience by
providing a stimulating teaching and research environment.
Initially an extendable contract which commenced 5th December 2011, Integral will be
providing planned and reactive mechanical, electrical and fabric maintenance services to
the University, which spans 5million sq ft of property including residential properties,
academic buildings, the Ness Botanical Gardens and School of Veterinary Science on the
Wirral. Integral will be working alongside the University’s own in-house maintenance team.
The contract will be a NEC Partnering contract as both parties are keen to develop a
collaborative, partnership approach to the delivery of the works.
Andy Nichol, Integral’s Regional Director for the North, added,
“This is a very significant contract award for Integral. Our impression throughout was that the
University of Liverpool were keen to work in partnership with a hard facilities management
specialist, who have a strong self delivery ethos and a local supply chain. Integral fitted the
bill.
We are looking forward to working closely and collaboratively with the University to deliver a
world class experience for their students in the coming years.”
Steve Dickson, Director, Facilities Management added,
“Facilities Management is committed to delivering service excellence. We welcome Integral
on board as our term contract partner and look forward to working with them on our
journey of continuing service improvement. Integral have demonstrated through the tender
process that they understand the meaning of a true partnership approach and that will
serve us well moving forward.”
