leadership and management are needed
in every organization.
• Best Managers have leadership skills.
• Best Leaders have some management
skills.
–Not all leaders have these skills nor do all
need them.

What good is it to do a great job if it is the wrong job? There is a need to distinguish the two roles without demeaning either.
Management is a developed/learned skill. Some are more apt to excel but most can learn the basic skills.
Are leaders born or developed? Both. Some are born with a tendency toward leadership but either way the skills must be developed.
Managers move processes and paper. Leaders move hearts and mountains. People obey managers but they follow leaders.
