The Powerful Word of God
1.
2.
3. Your Word Lord,
it is mighty powerful
it is commanding
it is boldly truthful.
It is alive and active,
it is full of energy
it is razor-sharp
for it pierces inwardly.
Your Word Lord,
it cuts to the core
it penetrates the soul
showing all You abhor.
It is always at work,
it obliterates the dark
it is jolting...
for it is raw and stark.
Your Word Lord,
it punctures the heart
it perforates the mind
separates the two part.
It is discerning,
it conquers and divides
it sees those who have
Its truth living inside.
Your Word Lord,
no one must ignore
for one day our lives...
to You, we’ll account for!
Hebrews 4:12
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful,
and sharper than any twoedged sword,
piercing even to the dividing asunder
soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow,
and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents
of the heart.
Neither is there any creature that is not
manifest in his sight: but all things are naked
and opened unto the eyes of him with whom
have to do.”
King James Version

When I need counsel,
when guidance I seek
I turn to God’s Word
then I let it speak.
For its full of wisdom,
so divinely conveyed
and I know it is God
who I need to obey.
His Word won’t cause,
me to go astray
for it reveals to me
the life and the way.
I trust where its leads,
I’m sure it will show
the righteous path
God wants me to go.
God’s Word is my compass,
Its full of his direction
pointing me to my final
glorious destination!
Psalm 73:24
“Thou shalt guide me thy counsel,
and afterward receive me to glory.”
King James Version
5. A Verse a day,
will keep the devil away
a Word or two
will help to renew.
A Scripture thought,
will help when distraught
A Bible study plan
will lead and command.
A Verse a day,
will keep fear at bay
a Word or two
will power you through.
A Scripture learned,
will help when concerned
a Bible nearby
will keep Jesus close by.
A Verse a day,
is a daily must
for it will direct you. . .
in God, to always trust!

Upon the tablet of my heart,
the Word of God I etch
for I know without His grace
I’m just a miserable wretch.
His Word reveals to me,
Light in its purest form
it exposes all my sin
the wickedness I perform.
In God’s Word I can find,
the true meaning of life
how to avoid being filled
with anxiety and strife.
His Word imparts wisdom,
it gives me understanding
it helps me from being...
to this world conforming.
On the tablet of my heart,
into my soul, I’ve engraved
God’s Word, grace and mercy
to remind me why ~ I’m saved.
Proverbs 3:3
“Let not mercy and truth forsake thee:
bind them about thy neck;
write them upon the table of thine heart:
King James Version
7. Lord, give me the Word,
in its true and pure form
I want to hear how it can
still change and transform.
I don’t want it altered,
distorted in any way
I don’t want to listen to
the polluted one of today.
I want to hear the Word,
talk to me about my sin
I want to know with You
the battles ours to win.
I don’t want it watery,
diluted or thinned down
I don’t want it weakened
by changing all the nouns.
Lord, give me the Word,
in its true and pure form
You know the one I mean. . .
for lives, it can transform!

8. When my soul is parched,
from all the weariness. . .
when my heart cries out
enough ~ to the dreariness.
I go to the Living Fountain,
sip from the Word of hope
praying all the while. . .
Lord, give me strength to cope.
The Word’s spoken by Jesus,
are the streams of eternal life
as they ebb and flow within
they decrease my inner strife.
Anything from my Savior,
is all I need to satisfy. . .
the thirst of this drained soul
just one Word ~ will gratify.
When my soul is parched,
from all the dreariness. . .
I read my Bible, so Jesus
can quench the weariness!

9. Some people pump iron,
some go to the gym
some lift heavy weights
just to stay trim.
Some people run miles,
some walk for hours
some use machines
to get all their power.
The only thing I lift,
weighs less than a pound
but, oh what strength. . .
there is to be found.
I don’t need to exercise,
or even break a sweat
I don’t have to work out
nor side cramps do I get
I just pick up my Bible,
for my strength training
and in the Word I find. . .
power ~ life-changing!

“My soul melteth for heaviness:
strengthen thou me according unto thy word.”
King James Version
10. Lord, when I study the Word,
I’m filled with inspiration
for it opens up to me...
thought for contemplation.
I see that You desire,
for me, to seek Your will
I can see my objective
is learning to be still...
I see You have a purpose,
for me, so many plans
I see that I must leave
everything in Your hands.
I see that You aim,
to renew me each day
I see that I must seek
the truth, light and way.
I see that You endeavour,
for me, to finish the race
I see that I need to grow
daily in Your love and grace!

17. When I need some peace,
I turn to John 14:27
then I leave all my fears
on the throne up in heaven.
When I’m feeling anxious,
I read Philippians 4:6
then I give all my troubles
to God to mend and fix.
When I need more strength,
I mediate on Psalm 18:2
then I rely on God’s power
to help me to get through.
When I’m feeling worn out,
I study Isaiah 40:31
then in God I am renewed
and my worries I overcome.
When I am low on faith,
I refer to Matthew 15:28
then I learn to trust in God
ever if I have to wait..
When I am feeling unloved,
I turn to John 3:16
then I just bask and soak up
all the love that Jesus brings!

JUST READ AND TURN THE PAGES!
18. Sometimes I get confused,
With everything I hear...
One preacher says I must do that
The other’s says “that” I should fear.
One says I must have works,
The other says by grace alone
Still some say that for my sins
Only grace with works will atone.
One says once saved always saved,
Then I hear some one else say
If you want to get to heaven
Lordship salvation is the only way.
Some teach I need to be baptized,
If God, I ever want to see
Some preach it’s not necessary
That eternity still waits for me.
Sometimes I get confused,
I feel tossed to and fro
But when I want the real truth...
Into my Bible ~ I simply go!

Ephesians 4:14
King James Version
“That we henceforth be no more children,
Tossed to and from, and carried about
With every wind of doctrine,
By the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness,
Whereby they lie in wait to deceive;”
19. Some people struggle,
with knowing God’s will
some people think
they just have to be still.
Some people toil,
laboring night and day
some people say “works”
are the only way.
Some people resist,
they just can’t conceive
some people just plainly
do not believe.
Some people are busy,
doing other things
some people can’t see
what good it will bring.
Some people understand,
if God’s will they’re to know
then into their Bible...
they will have to go!

20. MY LIFE ISN’T ABOUT MY DREAMS,
ambitions or desires
IT’S ALL ABOUT THE FAITHFULNESS
that my Lord requires.
IT’S BELIEVING IN WHAT’S RIGHT,
accepting the unseen evidence
EMBRACING THE GOSPEL TRUTH
without doubt or hesitance.
IT’S THE CERTAINTY OF MY TRUST,
Jesus will do what He said
THE CONFIDENCE IN KNOWING
I will be Spirit lead.
IT’S ABOUT MY CONVICTION,
to seize and embrace
THE HOPE OF MY FUTURE GLORY
through the gift of grace.
MY LIFE ISN’T ABOUT MY WANTS,
it’s about my eternal need
MY FAITHFULNESS ONLY COMES
when to God’s Word, I heed.

21. LORD, I know YOU’RE in control,
over everything that I do...
but, how would I know this
if I didn’t first seek after YOU.
I know that I can trust YOU,
for my every want and need
but, how would I know this
if YOUR WORD I didn’t read.
I believe YOU always will,
lead and guide my way
but, how would I know this
if I didn’t study my BIBLE every day.
I know YOU’LL shine YOUR LIGHT,
anytime darkness comes round
but, how would I know this
if into the WORD I didn’t expound.
LORD, I know YOU’RE in control,
over everything that I do...
but, how would I know this
if I didn’t apply YOUR WORD too!

“study to shew thyself approved by GOD,
a workman that needeth not to be ashamed,
rightly dividing the word of truth.”
King James Version
22. Every day is a smorgasbord,
a buffet of renewed pardon
A fresh supply of God’s grace
found in His Word garden.
My appetites are gratified,
From each verse that I pick
They bring me such comfort
Whether feeling well or sick.
I hunger after what is holy,
to fill me up for the day
And in the Word I can find
comfort throughout the day
I crave the righteousness,
Reading the Word will bring
It satisfied my hunger pangs
It’s like dining with the King.
It’s seems I’m always hungry,
I’m constantly in the Word
But my desire to know Jesus
is continuously being stirred.
I need a steady, stable filling,
Of God’s mercy and His love
It’s like manna from heaven
Coming down from above.

Matthew 4:4
King James Version
“But he answered and said,
It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone,
but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God”
One day I’ll sit at His banquet table,
and I will have all that I need
But until that day comes...
In His Word garden, I will feed!
23. I am just a student,
I study to become wise
I look for the truth
With wonder in my eyes.
I pray every morning,
for the Holy Spirit’s leading
so He’ll open up my mind
to everything I’ll be reading.
I consider and I examine,
Every Word and Every Line
I look for God’s promises
And claim them all as mine.
As I look up the meaning,
to the words I highlight
I’m see my own darkness
while blessed in His Light.
There’s something to be said,
When you study on your own
And one day I’ll have the answer
To every question that is sown.
But for now, I am His student,
I read my Bible every day
the Holy Spirit is my teacher
guiding me along the way!

a flicker of hope you’ll see
for Jesus is the sparkle
twinkling all around me.
A LANTERN TO MY SOUL,
a glimmer for all to see

Active And Ever-living
Piercing Through The Soul
Of Every Human Being.
It’s The World’s Worst Critic,
Everyone’s Eternal Judge
It Carves Out The Sinfulness
As It Slices Through The Sludge.
God Uses It As A Scalpel,
To Sever Mankind’s Disbelief
It Brings to Every Soul
The Promise Of Eternal Relief.
No Soul Is Dark Or Evil,
That It Cannot Penetrate
No Heart Is Too Cold Or Tough
That It Cannot Penetrate.

And If You Were To Let It...
It’ll Carve His Image Inside You!

Hebrews 4:12
King James Version
“For The Word Of God Is Quick, And Powerful,
And Sharper Than Any Twoedged Sword,

Heart.
26. Deuteronomy 32:2
King James Version
“My doctrine shall drop as the rain,
my speech shall distil as the dew,
as the small rain upon the tender herb,
and as the showers upon the grass:”
Between the pages lay,
words of eternal life
flowing in the Good News
the answers to my strife.
My Bible instructs me;
when I need to know...
what I should be reaping
how I ought to sow.
My heart begins to soar,
when I grow my eagle wings
as the Holy Spirit rains on me
every spiritual blessing.
Like the refreshing dew,
the Word is uplifting...
spilling forth with His truth
to keep my soul from drifting.

Like the refreshing dew,
outside my window pane
the Word of God falls on me
like a gentle rain.
There is such a peace,
that cascades over me
calming looming storms
lingering out at sea.
27. The Word is my road map,
that guides me along my way
leading me with great WISDOM
to help me through my day.
When I am at a crossroad,
not sure of the way to go
I ask Jesus for DIRECTIONS
so the true way I will know.
When I find I’m too weary,
to make it down the road
I pray for HIS ENDURANCE
to help me with my load.
When I get off His path,
and I wander on my own
I get down on MY KNEES
till His way for me is shown.
Yes, the Word is our road map,
the perfect guide for each of us
but we must read the SCRIPTURES
if in Jesus we’re going to trust!

SOMETIMES WE TALK THE TALK,
and we say we follow after You
but if the truth were to be told
it is not always what we do.
FOR WE ARE ALL BORN OF SIN,
and there is nothing we can do
the only way to walk the talk
is hand in hand with you.
I KNOW ALONE WE ARE NOTHING,
and we’ll surely lose our way
unless we rise in Your light
and pray for guidance every day.

32. Hidden in my heart,
Deep within the crevices
I’ve tucked the Word of God
Spelling out all His preferences.
He’s given me special verses,
At specific times of need
So His way would be clear
If on them, I’d trust and heed.

It is always on my mind
I can quote His Holy Word
Till true peace is what I find.
One day they may take my Bible,
But they cannot take my heart
For I store the Word safely there
And nothing ~ will keep us apart.

33. There is a place of calm,
for all of us to find
a place to just let go
and find peace of mind
Mine is in God’s garden,

promises of green pastures
the gathering of His sheep.

I bow to smell a rose
the scent of His undying love
in my heart forever grows.

He is always in control!
Psalm 119:140
“Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it.”

34. LORD, may your HOLY WORD,
CONVICT me of my SIN...
may it penetrate my INNER LIFE
and cut out the PRIDE within.
May it HUMBLE me,
with the edges of its POWER
may it BREAK THROUGH my mind
so to UNFAITHFULNESS, I will cower.
May it make me OBEDIENT,
with its piercing truthfulness
may it Infiltrate my soul
so I can see my uselessness.

with the SHARPNESS of its might
may it MAKE A WAY into my HEART
so I will be PLEASING in Your sight.
May it make me a CONQUEROR,
with its discerning KNOWLEDGE
may it BREACH the stony places
so YOUR GRACE I can ACKNOWLEDGE.
LORD, may your HOLY WORD,
CONVICT me of my SIN...
may it penetrate my ENTIRE LIFE
until it is YOU ~ who LIVES within
Hebrews 4:12 King James Version
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword,
piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow,
and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
35. When you’re feeling down,
and you need a raise and lift
just pick up your Bible
and give yourself a gift.
For inside you will find,
all His promises and so much more
they are yours to find and claim
when your Bible you explore.
When you’re feeling anxious,
always remember this one thing
since God is on our side
what good will worry bring.
For He is our peaceful God,
who showers us from above
with the gentle rain of His mercy
in the tenderness of His love.

When you’re feeling lonesome,
and it seems no one really cares
though you might be all alone
know that God hears your prayers.
For He is the morning wind,
that blows across your face
touching you with His goodness
caressing you with His grace.
When you’re feeling discouraged,
and deep waters begin to flow
cast your cares upon Him
and just watch His blessings grow.
For He is your Rock and anchor,
He will never let you drown
He will turn all your deep rivers
into dry and solid ground.
All the assurance that you need
is written in the Good Book
but you have to pick it up
and take for yourself a look!
Proverbs 30:5
“Every word of God is pure:
He is a shield unto them
that put their trust in Him.”
King James Version
36. I tuck the Word in my heart,
Then go about my way...
I know having the truth in me
Will take me through my day.
I get such joy and pleasure,
In every delightful saying
I can hear the Word’s of God
Whenever I am praying.
I long to have study time,
To meditate and learn
For I desire that the Word
Be the only lamp I burn.

Upon my lips I do savor,
Every morsel that I’ve heard
To me there is not anything
More satisfying than the Word.
I tuck the Word in my heart,
For it renews me day-to-day
It goes with me wherever I go
For it is the light unto my way!
Psalm 119:105
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet,
and a light unto my path.”
King James Version
37. Hebrews 4:12

is quick, and
powerful, and sharper

to the dividing

joints and marrow,
and is a discerned of
the thoughts and

The Bible is like a mirror,
it reflects yourself, so true
it shows the cardinal man
that is living inside of you
On the surface, it looks nice,
so polished and so clean
but, if you were to read it
all your sins would be seen.
The Bible is like a mirror,
it reflects what’s in the heart
and if you were to study it
you’d see every ugly wart.
You’d see every little blemish,
every spot and sinful mark
but, if you were to apply it
you’d no longer be in the dark.
The Bible is like a mirror,
His reflection should be in you
but you must study and apply it
to your life ~ for this to be true!
