This document discusses the concept and practice of prayerwalking. It describes prayerwalking as taking prayers to and from locations in order to engage in prayer ministry for those places. The document provides biblical examples of Jesus and Nehemiah prayerwalking. It discusses the effects of prayerwalking on developing a spirit of compassion and focusing prayer on neighbors. Guidance is offered on how to prayerwalk, including praying for signs and visions. The overall purpose of prayerwalking is presented as praying for cities and the harvest of souls.
3. Prayerwalking
... taking our prayers TO the places where
we desire to see God’s kingdom
manifested.
... taking our prayers FROM the places’
sights, sounds, and smells to engage in
the ministry of prayer.
4. Jesus went through all the towns and villages,
teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the
good news of the kingdom and healing every
disease and sickness.
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on
them, because they were harassed and helpless,
like sheep without a shepherd.
Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is
plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of
the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into
his harvest field.” Matthew 9:35-38
5. • Principle of unobtrusive & undistracted prayer.
• For 2000 years, the most unobtrusive and
undistracted place was behind the closed door.
Now, the noise has relocated indoors.
6. Walking is something we do daily, surely part of
praying without ceasing is praying while walking.
God hears all prayers offered by those who abide
in Christ, regardless of time, place, or position.
There certainly is no command against prayer
walking, and anything that prompts us to pray is
worthy of consideration.
7. HEART EFFECT: A Spirit-tenderized heart,
sensitized to a Spirit-directed need, results
in Spirit-filled acts of compassion.
KINGDOM EFFECT: Prayerwalkers learn to
pray beyond their own concerns, beyond
the walls of their church buildings, focusing
prayer on behalf of their neighbors.
8. Blessed are those whose strength is in you,
whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.
As they pass through the Valley of Baka,
they make it a place of springs;
the autumn rains also cover it with pools.
They go from strength to strength,
till each appears before God in Zion.
Psalms 84:5-7
9. They said to me, “Those who survived the
exile and are back in the province are in great
trouble and disgrace. The wall of Jerusalem is
broken down, and its gates have been burned
with fire.” When I heard these things, I sat
down and wept. For some days I mourned and
fasted and prayed before the God of heaven.
Nehemiah 1:3-4
10. I went to Jerusalem, and after staying there three
days I set out during the night with a few others.
I had not told anyone what my God had put in my
heart to do for Jerusalem. There were no mounts
with me except the one I was riding on.
By night I went out through the Valley Gate toward the Jackal Well and the
Dung Gate, examining the walls of Jerusalem, which had been broken down,
and its gates, which had been destroyed by fire. Then I moved on toward the
Fountain Gate and the King’s Pool, but there was not enough room for my mount
to get through; so I went up the valley by night, examining the wall.
Finally, I turned back and reentered through the Valley Gate.
Nehemiah 2:11-15
11. Then the LORD said to Joshua,
“See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands,
along with its king and its fighting men.
March around the city once with all the armed
men. Do this for six days. Have seven priests
carry trumpets of rams’ horns in front of the
ark. On the seventh day, march around the
city seven times, with the priests
blowing the trumpets.
Joshua 6:2-4
12. • Enjoy God’s presence as we walk
around the neighbourhood with Him.
• Exalt God glory from the very place(s)
where we stand.
13. • The Holy Spirit will use sights, sounds,
and smells to flood your awareness and
prayers with significance.
• Look for signs, posters, graffiti, carvings,
statues, buildings, and ordinary objects
that give you ideas of things for which
to pray.
14. • Imagine God is granting us a good look
at the “Before” portrait of our cities.
• When days of great harvest come
about, we will clearly see a very
different “After” picture, and praise
him all the more exuberantly.
15. I confess the sins we Israelites, including
myself and my father’s family, have
committed against you.We have acted
very wickedly toward you. We have not
obeyed the commands, decrees and laws
you gave your servant Moses.
Nehemiah 1:6b-7
16. “I will make you into a great nation,
and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
and you will be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you,
and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth
will be blessed through you.”
Genesis 12:2-3
17. Bapa kami yang di sorga,
Dikuduskanlah nama-Mu,
datanglah Kerajaan-Mu,
jadilah kehendak-Mu
di bumi seperti di sorga.
Matthew 6:9-10
18.
19. The god of this age has blinded the minds of
unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of
the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is
the image of God. ... For God, who said, “Let light
shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our
hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of
God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.
2 Corinthians 4:4,6
20. Then he said to his disciples,
“The harvest is plentiful
but the workers are few.
Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to
send out workers into his harvest field.”
Matthew 9:37-38
21. PROTECTION:
“Protect us from dangers and enemies,
seen and unseen.”
CONVICTION:
“When man works, man works;
but when man prays, GOD works.”
22.
