From genes to farmers’ fields: enhancing and stabilizing
productivity of rice in submergence‐prone environments (IRRI):
The Sub1‐lines developed by the project have provided the proof of
the advantages of marker‐assisted selection. Several of the Sub1
lines developed at IRRI have been released in several countries,
including India, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Other donors provided
funding to more widely spread the project technologies. Further
releases of submergence tolerant varieties were anticipated at the end
of the project.

Domestication and marketing of indigenous fruit trees of the
Miombo for improved household nutrition and incomes in
Southern Africa (ICRAF)
The project achieved a number of quantitative outputs: 492 superior
trees of 4 species selected: 25,612 farmers trained (> 50% being
women and particularly successful!); 758 tree nurseries set up and
managed. The number of cooperation partners was reduced in the
course of project execution. No policy briefs were produced.
Consequences for impact are unknown. (hardly any impact on
population in the project area)
