2. 1. Alpha Starch (Pregelatinized Starch)
Pre-gelatinization is the simplest modification, which is accomplished by cooking and drying.
Pregelatinized starch is widely used in pharmaceuticals because it is bland, odorless, and capable
of digestion.

Used to increase recovery rate of pulp in the paper manufacturing industry, waterproof paper.
3. Modified starch E1412 (Distarch phosphate):

4. Modified starch E1414 (acetylated distarch phosphate):

5. Modified starch E1420 (acetylated starch):

7.  Rice has always been a traditional strong export of
Vietnam. As a rice production hub of the world, the
country is set to remain the world’s second largest
rice exporter in 2021 with 6.4 million tons.
B. RICE

8.  The two major rice production regions of Vietnam are Red
River Delta (North) and Mekong Delta (South)
 These delta regions occupy about 66% of the total rice
production area and provide up to 70% of the total material
paddy yield of the whole country.
 The Mekong Delta is still the largest “Rice Bowl” of
Vietnam with nearly 4 million hectares by 2019. This delta
annually produces over 50% of total national rice
production as well as over 90% of rice commodity for
export.

9.  Vietnam produces two major kinds of rice including sticky rice and ordinary
rice of high and normal quality. The following are the classifications of
Vietnamese ordinary rice varieties based on their structures, shapes, and
colors.
 According to structures and shapes: There are long grain rice, middle grain
rice and short grain rice.
 According to colors: There are brown rice, white rice, red rice and black rice.
 Regarding Vietnamese high quality rice, there are two kinds including special
quality rice and fragrant rice.
 Especially for exporting, Vietnam exports the following kinds of rice: 5%
broken rice polished one time, 5% broken rice polished twice, 10%, 15%, 25%
and 100% broken rice. Besides, Vietnam also exports glutinous and sticky
rice, ordinary rice, rice parboiling and fragrant rice.

Vietnamese white rice is a competitor of Thai average and
high quality rice.
 The export value of white rice accounted for 32.5% of the total
turnover;
 Jasmine rice and fragrant rice accounted for 32.9%;
 Sticky rice accounted for 29.6%;
 Japonica rice and Japanese rice varieties accounted for 4.8%
 Rice exporters swiftly adjusted their strategies and actively
sought new markets and fully utilizing the benefits of FTAs

11.  Limestone is used in manufacturing plastics, paper,
rubber, paints, ceramic, artificial marble, cattle-feed,
poultry-feed, cosmetics, and pharmacy, etc.
 The main growth driver of this market is the growing
demand for cement in the construction industry.
 Emerging economies in Southeast Asia are experiencing
strong demand for infrastructure projects, which in turn
increases demand for homes, construction materials and
related services. The recovery of the European
construction industry is also what makes limestone “sold
out” in the future.
C. LIMESTONE

12.  Vietnam’s limestone occupies 50,000-60,000 km2 of the
continent, equal to 20% of the territory of Vietnam.
 There are limestone areas that account for half of the area,
including Ninh Binh (53.4%), Cao Bang (49.5%), Tuyen
Quang (49.9%) and Ha Giang (38.0%).
 In particular, areas such as Mai Chau (Hoa Binh province),
Moc Chau, Son La (Son La province), Tua Chua, Tam Duong
(Lai Chau province), Dong Van, and Meo Vac (Ha Giang) are
complete regions limestone.
 Most of Vietnam’s limestones are of biochemical origin.
