3. Introduction
First Women Bank Ltd. is a unique financial institution, a Scheduled
Commercial Bank.
Set up in 1989 by the Islamic world’s first woman Prime Minister Benazir
Bhutto (Shaheed), who wanted a bank that would meet the banking
needs of women entrepreneurs.
It was incorporated in the Public Sector as a Public Ltd. Company on
21st November, 1989 under the Companies Ordinance, 1984.
