African continent faces many Sustainable
development challenges
The continent also has enormous potential in a
myriad of areas especially leveraging its natural
resource abundance
It is home to 28 active and vibrant RCEs
8. REGIONAL DISTRIBUTION OF THE RCEs
North Africa 1
South Africa 10
West Africa 5
Central Africa 1
East Africa 8
(With Kenya having the largest number of RCEs . 5)
10. African RCEs are working on a variety of themes
including waste management, biodiversity, water
and sanitation, curriculum frameworks, pollution
control etc
11. Going forward there is need to scale out and up with
special focus on the sustainability of RCEs.
