controls pituitary gland directly and all other
endocrine glands indirectly

4. Pituitary Gland (= Hypophysis)
Structure:
Infundibulum - connection to hypothalamus

Two parts with an embryonic double origin
Posterior Pituitary = neurohypophysis Storage shed for

Anterior Pituitary = adenohypophysis production of 7

  cells: glucagon ( blood sugar levels by
stimulating liver to convert glycogen to glucose)

cells to take up glucose for use by the mitochondria)
