I’m Giulia Asola, graduated (Ms Degree) in Pharmacy at University of Torino on 7th June 2016 with an experimental thesis bearing the title Analysis of a new transgenic mouse line (Blev) over age. I worked and wrote my thesis at the University of Tübingen (Germany) during six months of Erasmus exchange programme at the Hearing Research Centre, Molecular Neurobiology.
As a graduate with a world-wide experience I plan to build an international career in the field of Pharmacy or Life Sciences abroad, I am sure that the position you offer will really mean a lot for my professional aspirations. I believe that my life experience as well as my academic and work background are highly suitable for the position.
During my Erasmus research programme in Tübingen I acquired skills like teamworking, public presentation, as well as specific research methods such as PCR, electrophisiological measurements, physiological recordings, ABR (auditory brainstem response measurements), DPOAE (distortion product otoacoustic emission), molecular techniques, genotyping, immunohistological staining methods, data analysis, hearing measurements, handling the animals, experimental protocols. What’s more I learned how to use tools like the Olympus BX61 electronic microscope. At the end of the programme my supervisor in Tübingen (Prof. Marlies Knipper) gave me the opportunity to present my research at the IEB (Inner Ear Biology) Symposium in Rome.
I have also attended a curricular internship for about nine months at a local pharmacy in Turin. During that time I have got deeper into pharmaceutical legislation and pharmacology, and mastered skills like how to make the reception of medicaments, register them in the database and sell them. Furthermore I assisted the senior pharmacists to prepare and extract remedies, creams, tablets and pills.
Working with people (both in an academical / work environment and during my volunteering experience) has broadened my communication talent and the ability to adjust to different situations and characters in a very short time. Only with quality teamwork great achievements can be attained.
