1. Front Cover Production Work

2. Above is the image that will be the base of my front
cover. The background of the image is purple because this
was one of the colours my target audience identified as
one of their favourites.

3. When adding the masthead, I first inserted it using the
text tool on the left side of the page. I then changed the
font and added a drop shadow effect to make it stand
out.

4. I then added the positioning statement, price and issue
information. Again, I used the text tool to do this. As the
magazine is about rock music, I made the positioning
statement fit in with this.

5. After this, using my sketch of my front cover I added the
cover lines. The majority of these are band names
identified by my target audience, used to appeal to the
widest possible audience.

6. Next, I added sub lines explaining what every article was
about. I add this text the same way I added all of the
other text on the front cover, using the text tool.

7. The main cover line was added, this anchors the image. It
is the second biggest text on the page.

8. Then, the sublime for the main cover line was added
describing what the article would ultimately be about.

9. I added a bar to the bottom of the page. This will hold
more band names that were again identified by my target
audience to appeal to a wider audience.

10. I used my audience research to help decide on the bands
that I would include in the bar at the bottom of the cover.

11. Once the rest of the magazine cover was completed, all
that was left to so was add a barcode. I added mine to the
bottom, right corner. This is a common position for
barcodes on magazines.
