3. HI!
I am Furkan Isguc. I was born in Rotter-
dam, The Netherlands and I am studying
Industrial Product Design at Rotterdam
Univerity of Applied Sciences.
I am an enthusiastic designer working with
passion. I enjoy genuin design solutions
with a user centered approach offering
benefits to the client and user. I like to work
on different things rather being stuck with
one particular branch. That is why I believe
to be curious to learn new things and not
things that already exist.
As a person I consider myself as a
pragmatic dreamer, always looking for the
different approach and angle. Sometimes
that exotism challenges me to think, not
only out of the box, but also add a new
element to the design and the product.
When I was younger I was constantly
challenged with the ideals of design and
prototyping. That started when I studied in
highschool where I signed up for the
Robotics Program. We as a team mana-
ged to be a sort of symbol to the other
schools in The Netherlands. We represen-
ted The Netherlands at various events.
But I decided to be an Industrial Designer.
Industrial Design makes you able to make
choices. From small to big, you can do
whatever pleases you.
Although we learn the standard 3D modu-
ling and sketching skills there, I developed
graphic design skills as well. I also focus
on photpgraphy, what is one of my favouri-
te things to do in my spare time. Summari-
zed this would be me.

7. A simple Iphone stand
How to make it easy, but profitable?
Using vacuum forming
and cheap material
like PP should result
in profit
Design the product
in a way that it
could be stacked up
The stack up should
result in easy
transport
Portfolio 2015 // Furkan Isguc
11. The idea was to design a
simple iPhone stand with
vacuum forming technique.
This iPhone stand however
adds something else.
The sound comes out from
the sides. The sound increases
naturally.
Portfolio 2015 // Furkan Isguc
12. The holes on the
sides provide
sound increase.
The sound flows
easily from the
iPhone through
the holes in the
stand where the
iPhone stands on.
An extra hole is
cut for the charge
plug.

TWO things at once!
Portfolio 2015 // Furkan Isguc
18. This is a combitool
designed to increase
their assortment.
This is a handheld juicer
with a pin for the kernels.
This handle consists of
two different handles.
Each handle has its own
purpose.
Both handles are clicked
to eachother.
You are just one click
away from using two
tools at once.

22. A balance toy for children
Portfolio 2015 // Furkan Isguc
Would this ‘toy’ attract children?
20%
of the children
didn’t know what
it was on first
sight
90%
of the children
loved the toy
incredibly
50%
of the children
were
three to five
years old
30%
of the children
didn’t understand
the lava concept
100 children in total were tested
24. The concept of the Lava step
is that the children are not
allowed to step into the
lava. In order to do that,
they need to hop across the
lava using the steps.
The steps are made of PP
and it is rotation molded.
In total 100 children tested
this product and 90% loved
the product.

25. I Box SIDE Rail

Individual project
Portfolio 2015 // Furkan Isguc
26. A side rail for a hospitalbed
Portfolio 2015 // Furkan Isguc
What is the most annoying thing
of this particular side rail?
Some side rails
are made of
metal
what results
in
discomfort
The lever
fails sometimes
The side rails
are sometimes
too high
for short nurses
to feed the
patient
the mechanism
fails sometimes
what results
in
discomfort
29. The principle is easy:
You pull the lever
up and the handle
falls down.
The I box and the
handle are made of
ABS platic.
The handle is rotation
molded and the I box
is vacuum formed.
The mechanics are
found in the box.
The idea came from
fitness benches. Same
principle is used to
lift the handle up
and down.
Portfolio 2015 // Furkan Isguc
30. The prototyping process
The prototype was made
at RDM campus, better known
as the Innovation Dock.
With the materials that were
available, I tried to make the
prototype as good as possible.
The I box consists of two plates
of wood attached to eachother.
The mechanics are within the box.
The mechanics consists of a
spring and a steel rod.
The handle was made of yellow
foam.

33. Robotics Project Robocup
What are the most essential elements of this project?
Affordable
Wide range of materials
Wide range of parts Compatible with different systems
Universal
Competitive
Portfolio 2015 // Furkan Isguc
34. This project was set up by
our own initiative. Through
eight years of experience we
found out that the Dutch
teams whom qualify themselves
for the world championships
are no longer a competition
to the Chinese, Japanese and
Iranian teams. This led us to
come with an idea. The idea was to
design, build and program an
universal robot. This robot is
only for the dutch teams
whom have no idea where
to start.
We found out that not only
are we no match to those
teams, but also schools are
having problems funding
their own robotics program:
the price to build such a robot
is too steep.
This is a way to show teams
that there is a way to be able
to build a robot for an
affordable price.
Portfolio 2015 // Furkan Isguc
35. The project is called 5B. The
initial amount of this robot
would be close to 500 euros.
This robot comes with an
arduino console and two
motordrivers.
The main idea is that to teams
who are interested to build
a soccer robot should be able
to make changes where ever they
want: universal.
They have a wide range of
materials for the plates,
the motors and sensors.
In our case it would be wise
to use the lightest, but strongest
material. We prefer to use plastics
instead of metals, because plastics
are easier to treat and it is
cheaper compared to metal.

39. Innovative promotion for Fietstaxi centrale
Rotterdam
Portfolio 2015 // Furkan Isguc
What sorts of promotional material don’t they have?
Billboard
Moving animations
LCD screens
Flyers
Partnership with brands
Bike cart
Partnership with supermarkets Partnership with local stores
42. Portfolio 2015 // Furkan Isguc
The Fietstaxi Centrale in Rotterdam
wanted us to think of a
concept to attract more
customers to their cabs.
They get most of their income
from sponsors and promotional
work.
It looked better to expand
the commercializing by adding
a cart with televisions in it
to promote more of these
brands.
It can be a local concept to
more commercial brands.
50. our Love for
ROTTERDAM
Something the Cosmicus college
and I have in common: Our shared
love for Rotterdam.
They wanted me to design a poster
to show their love for Rotterdam
as Rotterdam is Cosmicus’ main theme.
51. Bredeschoolse
Activiteiten
Logo
Their activities organisation
is obviously called: brede
schoolse activiteiten.
My assignment was to design
a logo for that organisation
in less than an hour.
I suggested a typgraphical
logo that indicates the initials
of bredeschoolse activiteiten
rahter than using different
icons and objects that
could stand in the way
of understanding the main
cause.
The indication is thus BSA.
Transfering the orginial colours of
the school would reflect the
organisation. They liked the logo, but
they weren’t satisfied with the
colours
Playing with different colours
resulted in a bsa logo that looks
more attractive
54. 5B Project
This 5B project has to have some attention.
My assignment was to design a sort of flyer
to attract people at events.
First thing’s first: The Logo
The inspiration for the logo actually came
from an old adidas box I had in my closet
for some reason.
I used the same box to design the flyer
and it left a lot of people enthusiastic
at the end of the event.
