Access Pulley
See Page 31
Designed to work with 11 mm ropes, the Access
Pulley is ideal for industrial applications as well as
many rescue operations. The proprietary locking
system does not rely on a toothed cam and can
easily be unlocked while under load. The integral
swivel reduces torque by aligning the pulley with
the load, increasing efficiency and safety.

Oval Carabiners
The ProTech Oval is a non-locking carabiner that features the key-lock
design for snag-free operation and a side-swing gate for maximum
gate opening. The oval design places equal force on the spine and
gate, allowing the carabiner to maintain full rated strength regardless
of the width of the web or rope clipped into it.

BiWire Carabiners
Wire gate carabiners are popular in the climbing world
because of their light weight and high strength. CMC’s
BiWire adds a new dimension to the concept by creating
what is effectively a locking wire-gate carabiner. This patent-
pending design features an outer gate which protects the
inner gate and prevents rope or hardware from opening it.
Two distinct and opposite actions are required to open
the gate. Even though the wires look thin, the BiWire’s
minor axis strength is comparable to a conventional
gated carabiner.

EXPERIENCED INSTRUCTORS
IN THE INDUSTRY
Experience is the foundation of good judgment —a necessity for a safe rescue incident. To properly impart that knowledge, a
training program must have instructors who not only have personal, hands-on experience in the field, but also possess the right
teaching skills to successfully pass that information along to others. All of CMC’s instructors are professional rescue trainers with
actual, in-the-field rescue experience who have also taught rescue safety for many years. They are masters of their craft and
they can transfer their knowledge to you in any of CMC’s intensive hands-on classes.

The service life of a rescue harness is closely related to that of a rescue Industry standards range from as little as a 2-year service life for fall pro-

Harness Standards Are There
to Protect the Rescuer
When rappelling or stretcher tending, rescuers are usually already at the ‘end of the
rope’ and are not likely to fall. Working near the edge has a potential for a fall, but
fortunately falls of the severity simulated in the standards happen very seldom. This
is particularly true with the NFPA 1983 requirement that after a head-up fall, the
harness is subjected to a second, head-down fall. The static test loads the attach-
ment points on the harness to more than 10 times the weight of a rescuer. Not only
is the test conducted in the normal head-up position, but also in a head-down posi-
tion, requiring the harness to demonstrate its strength no matter which direction the
rescuer moves.
A rescue harness is tested to measure its performance as a finished product. The
severity of the tests provide excellent assurance that the harness will perform
exceptionally well under normal use. What is very difficult to write into the standard
is the human factor—the ease of donning and comfort. Through our own experi-
ences with CMC harnesses and feedback from our customers, we pay attention to
donning and comfort, as well as building strength into our harness designs.

CMC ProTech Fire-Rescue Harness
UL Classified to NFPA 1983 – Class III and ANSI Z359.1
One of our most popular harness designs, the ProTech Fire-Rescue is in use by fire department
rescue teams, USAR teams, helicopter crews, and wilderness SAR teams. The unique design of the
dorsal D-Ring allows adjustment for different size rescuers, but stays in place when loaded, greatly
increasing comfort. Gear loops have been added for storing equipment, but their design allows easy
removal when using the harness for confined space entries. The front waist D-Ring allows a comfort-
able, stable sitting position for rappels and the sternum D-Ring works well for helicopter hoists.
Quick-connect shoulder straps and leg loops make donning the harness simple and fast. Molded
pads on the leg loops can be adjusted to the most comfortable position. The name and red color rec-
ognizes our customers selection of this harness as a versatile, multiple use harness for fire-rescue.

CMC ProTech Rigger’s Harness
UL Classified to NFPA 1983 – Class III and ANSI Z359.1
CMC Rescue harness designs have long been a favorite of the riggers in the entertainment indus-
try and the Rigger’s Harness has the features they have requested. These same features make it
an excellent harness for rope access work of all kinds. Our dorsal D-Ring design allows the position
of the D-Ring to be adjusted for the most comfort. When loaded, it does not ride up, but stays close to the back
for maximum comfort and minimum pressure on the neck. The front waist D-Ring allows a comfortable, stable
sitting position for rappels and the sternum D-Ring can be used for a front-mounted safety line when climbing
towers or other structures. Side D-Rings allow effective work positioning. Dark colors minimize visibility when
working “behind the scenes.” Front strap accepts screw-links for adding a chest ascender or safety lanyards.

Haz-Mat Extrication Harness
The Haz-Mat Extrication Harness was designed with
input from Phoenix Fire Captain Mark Delima as an
extrication device for personnel wearing Level-A chemi-
cal protective clothing (NFPA 472). The harness is worn
over the garment and incorporates a dorsal attachment
point for lifting or lowering the rescuer. The web straps
of the harness also provide easy grab points if an inca-
pacitated rescuer needs to be lifted or moved. The har-
ness may also be used with other bulky protective wear
such as immersion or ice rescue suits. Because of the
unknown level of exposure to chemical atmospheres or
direct chemical contact inherent in a hazardous materi-
als incident, haz-mat equipment is usually required to be disposable. Although designed to
be a one-time-use harness, the Haz-Mat Extrication Harness is made by CMC with the same care and quality materials as all CMC
harnesses and can be reused if deployed in non-toxic atmospheres. One size fits most personnel. Weight: 1 lb. 12 oz. (794 g).

UL Classified to NFPA 1983 – Class III and ANSI Z359.1
More than ever, the very popular CMC ProSeries Confined Space Rescue Harness is the all-around
