This document discusses using images from geological sources like core chips, logs, and samples to extract value. It highlights how mobile devices can introduce a visual language for communication and knowledge transfer in fields. Images can be captured, catalogued, searched, and viewed in context or downhole when modeling. Integrating numerical, categorical, and image data through cognitive computing can provide more insights in a non-subjective and fast and inexpensive way. The value of thousands of geological pictures is to gain insights that words alone cannot provide.
