2. BACKGROUND OF FAMA
• FAMA was established in 30th September 1965 under the Federal Agricultural Marketing
Authority Act 1965.
• FAMA's responsibility is to improve the marketing of agro food products such as
vegetables, fruits and agro-based industry products.
• Mr Hanafiah Hussein was appointed as the first chairman of the board and other
members consisted of a Deputy Chairman and 11 members.

Develop efficient and effective marketing of food and agricultural products to increase
value to customers.
4. OBJECTIVES
• Realizing National Vision and National Agriculture Policy to make Malaysia a major
producer of world food through the efficiency and effectiveness of agricultural and food
products.
• Efficient and effective marketing infrastructure development and supply chain systems.
• Marketing development and increased demand for agricultural and food products both
domestically and internationally.
• Human resource abatement in marketing of knowledge based and latest technology.
5. MAIN FUNCTIONS
• Coordinate agricultural marketing activities whether it involves private parties or
government departments / agencies.
• Improve marketing systems and expand and develop new markets for Malaysian
agricultural products.
• Collaboration with private sector and government departments / agencies to create
efficient and effective agricultural marketing.
• Develop and promote efficient management of the agricultural industry in relation to
marketing or processing of agricultural produce.
• Engaging directly in the agricultural industry, especially marketing or processing of
agricultural produce.

What we can conclude from this topic is FAMA holds lots of programs
to help small entrepreneurs to develop the country's economy. FAMA also
provides funding to small entrepreneurs so that agricultural and agro-based
industries are available and can be obtained at a price that can be paid by
consumers. FAMA also provides a place for business to entrepreneurs small
to sell their agricultural produce like fruits and vegetables.
