Car, road, highway, interstate (American), bus, bus station, train, train station,
airplane, airport, ship, port of call (place where the ship stops)
Travel items:
Passport, visa, luggage, suitcase
Travel requirements:
Customs, itinerary, schedule, map
Types of travel:
Cruise, ski-trip, hiking, camping, adventure, tourist

3. • Hit the Road (means: let’s go!) “Let’s hit the road!”
• Pack for all occasions (means you packed for any situation) Katie: “Did you
remember to bring an umbrella?” Joel: “of course, Katie, I packed for all
occasions!”
• When in Rome (when in another country, you should do like the local people
do) Chen Lu: “Do you use a fork or chopsticks?” Leo: “When in Rome!”
• Home is where the heart is (means wherever your loved ones are, is where
your home is). Katie: “Do you miss your home?” Warren: “My family is here.
Home is where the heart is.”

• Destination: the place you are traveling to.
• Connecting Flight: A transfer flight
between your origin and destination.
• Layover: Amount of time you wait for your
connecting flight to depart.
• Departure Time: The time your flight
leaves the airport.
• Arrival Time: The time your flight gets to
your destination

• Reservation: a way to ensure a space for you.
• Return Flight: the flight that takes you back to your
home.
• Round Trip Ticket: the purchase of both your

• One-way Ticket: a ticket without a return flight.
• Vegetarian Meal: food that does not contain meat.
• Book a Flight: the act of buying/reserving a ticket
for a flight.
