ECKists come from all paths of life. They consist of a
broad cross section of nationalities, races, age
groups, and occupations.
3. ď‚ž Furthermore, ECKists come from all religious
backgrounds as well. Common themes and feelings,
such as love for family and community, are key ways
they unfold spiritually and live in harmony with the
Divine.
Structurally, Eckankar is a nonprofit religious
organization and church. It redefines what a church
can offer its members. Rather than promoting a fixed
set of beliefs, it presents a spiritual toolkit that each
individual applies in their own unique way. Each
belief and principle is tested and verified by the
individual through his or her own personal
experience.
4. ď‚ž Becoming an ECKist is easy. Interested persons
should explore the church’s website at
www.eckankar.org to learn more about the
spiritual studies and training involved. With the
reading of the special monthly writings and
practice of unique spiritual exercises, members
unfold via several initiation stages in which they
become more attuned to the Divine Spirit.
Typically, ECKists take two years to explore the
teachings before choosing to take the ECK
initiation. Throughout this journey, each
initiation brings them one step closer to loving
and knowing God.
