Power protection is so essential to the safe operation of converged architectures that it should be regarded as the 5th element of a complete converged infrastructure solution, alongside servers, storage, networking and virtualization software. An integrated power management solution from Eaton – consisting of an intelligent UPS, an appropriate power distribution system, comprehensive power management software and sturdy, flexible enclosures – ensures data integrity, business continuity and resilience.
Eaton’s virtualization solution allows you to
View and manage your entire power system from your existing virtualization dashboard
Keep critical loads running longer
Ensure maximum business continuity
Eaton saves you valuable time by simplifying power management in virtualized environments. By integrating Intelligent Power Manager software with leading virtualization platforms, you can view host servers, storage and your entire power infrastructure from a single pane of glass.
Eaton reduces risk by protecting virtual and physical servers, fabric and storage from power disturbances and keeping your critical loads running. Eaton’s power management solutions enable you to migrate virtual machines onto unaffected host devices automatically during utility service interruptions. Our solutions also allow you to shut down physical servers gracefully when such measures are unavoidable.
Eaton ensures business continuity with a comprehensive power management solution that securely encases, organizes, protects and manages your critical IT investment.
Our award-winning UPS software manages and controls our power infrastructure through VMware and/or a Citrix Hypervisors. We actually show up as a tab inside the vCenter or XenCenter software.
Because we are integrated so well we can initiate site recovery manager to move your most valuable applications and data to a DR site.
If a DR site isn't set up, then our software can keep mission critical applications running longer on battery or until a generator turns on by suspending non critical servers and consolidating VM’s (load shedding) to specific racks or servers.
Finally, if there is no other choice but to shut down, you can gracefully do this with our agentless remote shutdown.
-- The NIST {explain what NIST is} definition of a Cloud is the following: “Cloud computing is a model for enabling ubiquitous, convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources (e.g., networks, servers, storage, applications, and services) that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction.”
-- Having IT services consumers use a fraction of a large pool of resources that benefits from on-demand services and rapid elasticity means that only the HW that is required is used, while the rest can lay idle.
