Proceeding: One the first steps to hiring a nurse is to create a job description by preforming a
job analysis involving current employees and supervisors. After the job description is created to
post job for talent acquisitioning.
Hiring Process:
1. Post job description to all recruiting tools
2. Review resumes and cover letters
3. Pre-screen applicants with a Yes, Maybe, and No piles electronically or paper version
4. Contact application for interview with hiring manager
5. Confer with hiring manager about potential candidates for the job opening
6. Confer with search committee if one is in place
7. Pre-screen edibility for hire
8. Job Shadow those who are eligible for position
9. Contact candidate for hire; extending an offer letter and inquire if candidate is still
interested with job, after agreed persons will be hire.
Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse
Department: Intensive Care
Reports to: Director of Critical Care
Position Summary: The ICU/CCU RN manages the nursing care of critically ill patients in
accordance with the established policies, produces, and protocols of the healthcare organization.

Position Requirements
Assesses plans and evaluates patient care needs.
2. Carries out physician orders.
Administers prescribed medications, charges dressings, clean wounds, monitors vital
signs.
Provides respiratory and ventilator management and monitoring for patients.
Serves as primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing
computerized documentation systems.
Instructs and educates patients and families.
Assesses and coordinates patient’s discharge planning needs with members of the
healthcare team.
Provides age and culturally appropriate care.
Orients and mentors new staff members.
Follows Standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Assess patients' pain levels or sedation requirements.
Prioritize nursing care for assigned critically ill patients, based on assessment data or
identified needs
Essential educational/licensures, skills, and experiences
Required Qualifications:
Current licensure as a RN.
Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider. ACLS certification must be obtained
within the first six months of hire date and both BLS and ACLS certifications must be
maintained throughout employment.
Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.
Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal
supervision in a fast paced environment.
Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting,
kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two years or more experience in Med Surg. Or Critical Care
